They are the different release numbers of Oracle software. Oracle 8 and 8i (8.0 and 8.1) are out of support, 9.2 is ending this year (sort of, maintenance costs go up) 10 is the current release and 11 has been released for some platforms.

The i was added in version 8 to signify internet capabilities.
