so they don't crumble all over when you take them in the bedroom and then you....oh no....can't tell you.....it will get me kicked off her.....but with your sick sick mind I bet you won't having any problem guessing what I was going to do with them.....ha ha

It's ironic, but bread will lose water to become stale. Croutons will get some moisture from the air and become "stale".

Croutons are oven-baked and could get stale, so that is why the airtight packages are needed.

You're right, but if not sealed, the stale bread would draw the moisture from the air and you'd have soggy stale bread.

Croutons that you buy at the store are actually toasted. They are packed in nitorgen for two main reasons: 1. Keeps them crispy longer 2. Eliminates oxygen, therefore reduces the possibility of bacterial growth.

I never thought about it. But I know I wouldn't buy them if they weren't sealed well. Possibly to keep weevils out that seem to like those dry box foods.

actually it's dried out bread, just like bread crumbs....you dry out the bread then crush it up
