Hi,
I have an car with an automatic gearbox. When my boyfriend uses my car, he always put the gear on "P" (parking) at red lights, which really annoys me. I have the impression that it's not good to do this as position "P" blocks the wheels and I fear that this might in the long term damage the gearbox. He argues that it doesn't matter. Who is right?

the more the gears move, the more they wear out. putting the car in park every time you are at a red light in the long term can wear out your transmission. It is also not needed. It does nothing beneficial to your car. it does not improve your vehicle mpg. My theory of why he does that is that he wishes that the car was a manual transmission.

Putting your car in park is not a problem. He just doesn't want to keep his foot on the brake. I use park at the bank and most fast food drive throughs because they are all really SLOW where I live. lol.

Aside from being annoying, and useless, it doesn't hurt the motor or the transmission to do this. It just means he's too lazy to press his foot on the brake for longer than 3-seconds.

Solution: don't let him drive your car... or get a boyfriend that isn't such a lazy slob.

I don't see any reason it would damage the transmission, however I do not see the need to do it since it's another step that needs to be done before moving on when the light changes, taking more time.

properly i think they could have been those colorations... i think of the main factor of the coloring equipment improve into to differenciate. amazing shade, like crimson captures the attention and tells us to give up- yellow isn't somewhat the comparable, yet nonetheless interest grabbing. eco-friendly is mellow, so we are allowed to cruze on with the aid of. yet eco-friendly is definitely a diverse shade scheme so this is basic to tell the version from a distance. Personly, i think of orange could be amazing extremely than yellow... yet then it may well be a litttttle too on the factor of crimson... i think of i could give up when I wasn't meant to... (and in all danger get honked at~! lol)
