The MoveOn post makes a compelling case that the stats Petraeus is using are "cooked", with or without his knowledge I don't know.

As for the first woman who responded, note that the MoveOn article does include links to various news sources which you can read for yourself and make up your own mind. I did.

No. I dislike everything about the Bush Administration, but GEN Petraeus is a man who has served a long and distinguished military career. He deserves much better than the "nickname" that has been stuck on him.

Generals are just as political as anyone else, ask Gen. Shinseki about that.

It really doesn't matter what Patraeus says, Bush isn't going to change his agenda no matter what the circumstance. He's runningout the clock and pawning off to the next President.

No. He is a General on the ground there so he knows a heckuva lot more than anyone at moveon.org. I'll take his word over some lawnchair liberal organization. I'll take his word over a conservative lawnchair organization. Since his word is matching what I am hearing from friends and family over there, I'll trust him even more.

Boy, the left is really worried over what he's going to say, aren't they? They're afraid he's not going to say what they've predicted and it's going to expose them as being even more out of touch than people thought. In desparation, they're calling his report the "Bush Report". Congress approved his appointment unanimously. He's known as one of the most able generals in US history and may be a candidate for President in 2016, after Fred's two terms in office.

No, he's following the orders of his Commander in Chief, just like any good career soldier would do. It's not his fault that so many suckers voted for Bush in '04.
