I have a small corner desk for my PC as I am quite limited for space in my house, I also have a printer but nowhere to store it.
Does anyone know if it would be ok to store the tower on it's side so that I can place the printer on top of it?

Besides issues with using media, as most drives don't have supports for side-ways media, you also can have heat concerns when you put that printer on top. The computer will run, just get very hot (especially if a laser that is on a lot). The computer's safety mechanisms may shut it down when it gets too hot.

So, go ahead and do it, but if you find the system is rebooting more than normal, heat may be the issue.

You can store it that way, but I wouldn't try to operate it that way. With the printer on top of it and (maybe) limiting air circulation, it might get a bit warm inside ☺

You could, but it may cause complications with inserting cds and dvds, if the drives are not specifically designed for it.
