I've heard that they are kept seperate, and I also heard that they are not kept seperate. I honestly don't think that they are, but I need some extra opinions to back this up. I couldn't find anything on that on the web.

I was at TYC in Texas, and yes once you turn 18 you are transferred to an adult prison and you usually aren't separated. It depends on the prison, but most will put young inmates with the older inmates without even considering what could happen. My case was different because I was in the maximum security psych ward and was never in any danger of going to an adult prison.

The law is that NO child is to be housed with adult prisoners.

Some have been declared adults by the courts and I imagine as they were tried as adults, and convicted as adults, some states do not segregate them. I think children should NOT be housed with adults who can make them easy prey, no matter how they were convicted!!

I hope not, I can think of some wanna be thug types that deserve everything general population in prison has to offer!
