Here we go:

Santiago de Compostella - 3rd most important pilgrimage site for Catholics after Jerusalem and Rome - in province of Galicia.

Donostia/San Sebastian - beautiful coastal border city in the Basque province, essentially across from Biarritz, France - gorgeous beach, but very windy and overcast.

Sella - famous for kayak racing if I remember correctly...also has an impressive cave with unique cave drawings.

Caceres - nice medieval village in Extremadura

Casares - one of the famous white villages of Andalucia. Nice peasant festival in August

Mijas - Great leather buys, beautiful views of Costa del Sol.

Malaga - birthplace of Picasso

Marbella - rich people's playground

Ronda - aquaduct, famous for the movie "Carmen de la Ronda

Cordoba - La mezquita: A church, within a synagogue, within a mosque

Sevilla - home of the 1932 World Expo, beautiful gardens and parks, Real Alcazar, La Giralda (former mosque turned into a cathedral), some of the best tapas and flamenco in all of Spain.

Granada - Alhambra palace - imposing with spectacular gardens.

Segovia - UNESCO World Heritage Site - cool aquaduct that intersects city

Avila - fortified city

Toledo - Fortified city up on a hill, famous for a fresco by El Greco in the cathedral. Also known for demasquine art (fine intricate jewelry and art - especially swords) - you can get up there with an escalator - really cool

Salamanca - oldest university in Spain, UNESCO World Heritage Site, also has an interesting display of Plateresque style of architecture (fine, detailed etching in stone - can be seen on the façade of the university - look for the frog) - oh and on one of the façades of the cathedral there is an astronaut. Also the city is said to have one of the nicest plazas in Spain - Plaza Mayor.

Barcelona - Gaudi's architecture including Sagrada Familia, Parque Guell, and La Perdera. Known for Las Ramblas (the pedestrian hot spot) and Magic fountains (light and sound show in front of the Catalunya National Museum). Very cosmopolitan.

Madrid - The Capital, known for one of the best Art museums in Europe (The Prado). Beautiful architecture, nice plazas, great gardens.

Figueres - home of the Dali Museum - has an interesting old fort too.

Tenerife - okay not a city but one of the Canary islands - has a black sand beach, beautiful visitas, great fruit liquours, was frequented by the German geographer Humboldt.

Santiago de Compostela - one of the 3 most important pilgrimage sites in Christianity. The old part with the cathedral is just beautiful.
Lugo in Galicia - part of the town is surrounded by a Roman wall. It has been named a site of historic interest by UNESCO.
Barcelona - Gaudis famous cathedral, La Sagrada Familia, is breath taking. A very cosmopolitan city.
Valencia - has lots of very modern architecture including El palacio de artes y ciencias. Art gallery, science museum and concert hall with acoustics to die for!
Alicante - lively city with many museums, galleries as well as great restaurants and bars.
Cartagena - founded by the Romans, many remains of buildings can be found round the city, beautiful parks and shady avenues.
Seville - home of carmen, flamenco and the best sangria I have ever tasted! The Giralda (part of the cathedral) and the golden tower (torre de oro) are just some of the things you can see here.
Cordoba - After the Moors were defeated and the Catholic rulers took over Spain they built a huge Catholic altar in the middle of the most spectacular work from Moorish times. It has to be seen to be believed.
Toledo - producers of the finest metal work continue a tradition that started 900 years ago.
Madrid - there is something here for everyone, museums, architecture, bars, restaurants, parks...

Madrid, capital city full of culture, plenty to do many musuems, all kinds of bars and restaurants. So you can eat and experience all types of the spainsh culture. Not expensive place considering the the capital.

La Manga club, i know its not a city, but its worth a mention, little england basically, not much spanish culture unless you travel off club, pretty famous place famous for its golf courses, the football pitches they have are used by teams all over the world. Expensive place, but the weather nice and beaches are good for holiday.

Cartagena, very old city tons of cultur here, its not pretty place but many old old history, theres a festival being held in the city for when the carthagons had a fight with the romans, cartagenanas lost but they still celebrate it, good nights out.

Barcelona, lovely place, i found it very clean, its on the coast so plenty of sea and beaches. Definatley worth a visit.

Granada, Alhambra palace, lovely operatic aria as sung by Joe Carreras. Beautiful olive groves as far as the eye can see. Just far enough inland so the lager-louts can't be bothered to go and spoil it.

San Sebastian on the northern Atlantic coast, almost undiscovered by non-Spanish tourists, but good enough for King Juan Carlos to spend his holidays there.

Also in the north, Santander and Bilbao, reachable by ferry from the south of England, and not over-run like Benidorm, and similar commercialised resorts.

The towns of the north east bordering France, in the Catalan region, from the border town of Iruna to Pamplona (running of the bulls, not pretty to some but it is authentic Spanish culture)

Cordoba, Jaen, Valencia. You can keep your phoney costas, these places are what makes Spain.

Hiking in the Sierra Nevada.
