I think you are a guy that is very secure in who you are--and that such a move would deserve respect. Any athlete who works hard and pays dues deserves a shot.
I had a torn achilles tendon my Junior year that ended my college basketball season. Although hobbled, as a senior I had a chance to try out. The coach said she would have to put me on JV until I got some speed back (I had played Varsity as a Fresh and Sophomore)...I was too proud to play JV and quit instead. I actually regret now that I didn't play. As it turned out, we had four key injuries on the Varsity that year, and I would have been back playing Varsity within 4 games of the season starting. It would have been nice to play college basketball my senior year.
Long story short--I regretted making the decision that I was too good to go back to JV. Go out for the team. It may sting at first, but once people get used to the idea you'll have a great year...and you never know...you may be first in line for Varsity--or you may realize that you could play in juco or college.
Good luck.

MOST of the time seniors are on varsity, but there are some times where they play on JV. And if you wanna be on the team just to enjoy the atmosphere of a varsity football game, then go for it. It's great.

I almost had to in high school volleyball. I wasn't as good as the younger players (even after practicing my butt off), so my senior year I dropped volleyball (after playing for like 5 years) and joined journalism (yearbook and newspaper). I wish I had done it sooner.

If you want to play, just get out and do it. Don't even think about listening to a bunch of guys who have never played football (I played college) or a bunch of women.
Have some damn fun!

Its only embarrasing if you let it. go out there and have fun enjoy your senior year, who cares you play jayvee enjoy yourself. And if you practice hard and play hard enough you will get your chance, and if you dont make it dont quit it will show bad character. GOOD LUCK!
