I am trying to learm more about stocks and what have you, and was just curious....
For example could I buy stocks in the NFL?

They are privately owned, sort of. I think a couple of them are city owned, but none are corporately owned.

Well...

Some teams are owned by companies - I know Steinbrenner purchased the Yankees from CBS.

If I am not mistaken, Ted Turner owns the Braves and he owns Turner Broadcasting which is a subsidiary of Time Warner (NYSE: TWX)

Other then that, I do not know of any public companies who own franchises.

I think that the league is jointly owned by the owners of the teams.
