I'm spearheading a gift basket raffle for my local animal shelter, and I'm making about 5 bags to raffle off. They are all going to be animal-oriented baskets, and I need a few ideas to fill them up. I have some "goodies" with the shelter's name on them, like pens, dog leashes/collars, and little hand towels, etc.
I was thinking about putting in some bags and/or wallets, cell phone cases, that look like this:https://shop.theanimalrescuesite.com/store/item.do?itemId=29096&siteId=310&sourceId=303&sourceClass=Category&index=14
Would that be corny? What are some other cute things I could put in the baskets?

I'm open to making them for people/animals combined. That is a great idea.

the org. that I volunteered for recently did this. See if one of the local groomers will donate a gift cert.
we made a doggie and human beauty basket. (had groomer gift cert. and human haircut cert., shampoos for people and dogs, brushes, collar, leash, treats, toys and candles for people)

I have put together baskets for my shelter as well. Try contacting local veterinarians for freebies & certificates. Also, see what vendors your shelter uses for medicines and food. The vendor reps usually have a huge supply of freebies such as frisbees, leashes, bowls, pens, etc.

are they going to be for people only or for the dogs?

if you are doing some for the dogs, go to local groomers or training facilities and ask for gift certificate donations. you will need a letter with the letterhead from the shelter to ask. this will be their receipt to be used for tax deduction purposes.

for the people the items on the site you provided are very cute and I'm sure any animal lover would carry them around.

A small stuffed toy of a dog or cat that the animals can play with. Catnip toys (home made) or homemade doggie biscuits (you bake them like cookies) packaged in cellophane or zip lock baggies.

How about chew toys, treats, kitty litter, fun things to pamper ones pet

Add** I love the site! I don't think it's corny at all. Cute bag. Think I'll get one for myself :) How about adding coffee mugs w/ puppies and/or kittens, key chains, or the little stuffed pound puppies & pound purries?
