39 days.

I have a serious sleeping disorder. When I am stressed or worried, my body cannot shut down and I'm wide awake.

By the time I finally did get some sleep, I has in the hospital. Even the drugs they gave me didn't make me sleep. My body just decided it's time and I got a few hours sleep. After that I was fine. It's been a while but I have yet to go through a year without this happening.

4 days, but even after that I only had a couple hours of sleep and went another couple of days before I got anything significant. That was about 12 years ago. I was an insomniac then and rarley slept more than an hour and half at night. Much better now.

63 hours -

I went to work at my normal time one day (I work in a call centre) and when I got there, we got news of the London Bombings and we were asked to go on standby as a crisis enquiry and information centre.

Me and a team of about 50 staff did what would have been our normal shift, and stayed up all through the night (they were going to PAY us for this - we refused) to take calls and worked the equivalent of our normal shift the following day too, and stayed on until midnight that evening too. It was totally voluntary, and at that point i couldn't physically keep going. I then made an hour's drive home. How I made it in one piece I will never know.

I was also really impressed with our local McDonald's - we called them at 6pm asking if they could do a bulk order for 10pm at night, telling them why we needed it. Not only was everything ready on time, they gave us all the end-of shift bits and pieces that were going to be thrown out, and didn't charge us for any of it!

Impressive, eh?
