Hey All My “Yahooligan” Friends *^_^*

I have a problem and I’m hoping for some wonderful feedback from you all. Not only will this help me but, others also in my position.
First off, I’d like to say “Thank You” all for your support in “criticizing” as well as “commenting” on my works. I truly have never even considered doing a book until after I jumped on Y.A. and had the pleasure of meeting you all. You are a true inspiration to me and again, I thank you.
Secondly, I am truly amazed at the wonderful comments posted in “poetry’ form. There are so many of you that deserve much praise also and should consider getting a book out *^_^* I will try much harder in returning more of the favors in commenting, promise :~)`

Ok, here’s the thing. I have come across a wonderful site called “Barros Monteiro Editorial Publishers
“ They publish Poetry, Prose and Short Stories. I’m seriously considering jumping on in but, I feel that I have so many different “subject matters”

that it just wouldn’t make sense putting them all together in one book. I have recently took on a more “adult nature theme” as well as a darker more brutal side, some of which I can not post on Y.A. Also, I suck at revisions as it seems to me, the more I work one write, the more botched it becomes LOL, true story *^_^*

If you were in this position, how would you go about “weeding” through your works for possible publication? And just how skeptical are you?

Thanx in advance for replying, I just need some outter opinions as my husband knows absolutely nothing about this subject nor, does he really care LOL :~P`

All the Very Best, Shad @)~>~

PS: I have been trying to get an email to all of you but, am only allowed 20 per day thru Y.A. (sorry) I hope you all are doing well *^_^*

Obviously the work usually done by editors and editorial staff is unappealing to you. So get an editor. Or Go with it the way it is. Have you tried submitting to Sun Magazine? You would get some money if you were published. The publish many "unknowns". Their editor would "fix" anything too off key.
Try going to the local JCollege during some lit professor's office hours. Just see what they have to say. Try your friends and neighbors. Give a few to each. See how the responses differ and how they are similar. You will learn a lot from those kinds of feedback processes.

You then will be able to "fix" anything you have already written very quickly. Fix them and submit them everywhere. Go get the Writer's Market out of the library. Every polite no, is a step closer to yes.

Well... To put it simple, even though I know I'm not someone who's ever commented on your work, I would read all of my writing 'n simply pick the 1's I'm most proud of, I get the best feelings from 'n maybe think the public would like the most, also. But at the same time, being me, I would also say 'screw the public' 'n pick what I like. (For certain pieces of my work, anyways.)

I usually make sure that my work fits both the public 'n myself, but I still always come 1st. Especially since most of the public doesn't know a thing about it. So what does it matter what they think, reality?

I tend to let my work 'sit' for a couple days, then go back 'n read it and spend some time thinking about. How I feel about, the feeling I'm getting, I'm trying to get, if I like the picture I'm painting or not... Things like that. If I found myself in your situation, then I would do the same thing I do when 1st writing my work, to choose which pieces to go into my book.

I don't see why you can't just categorized chapters of your book, though...? Like 1 chapter 1st has say... Poems, on this subject or that subject. Then you have short stories on the same subject, then prose, then flash fiction... Something like that. I don't think I, personally, could ever pick just 1 subject. All my best work is in different subjects 'n if I'm not going to give out my best, if I can't 'cause I'm not 'allowed' to by my publishers, then I guess they're not my publishers, now are they?

Luck in life.

Hi Shad!
I am where you are in the publishing dilema, however, I have narrow it down to certain categories, I have some which will be published as fiction, some as short stories, some as poetry, and, some will be non-fiction. I know nothing about the publishing company u mentioned, there is a publshing company site online called "Firstbooks.com, u may or may not want to chek it out as well, I want to applaud u in your decisions, path, and journeys, I wish u nothing but "Success."

This is NOT a legitimate publishing company. DO NOT send them anything. This is a scam POD outfit pretending to be a real publisher.

Real publishers NEVER let the author design the cover. Real publishers know the cover is the single most important marketing tool you have, and therefore you have your own professionals design it.

Real publishers don't try to "sell you." They are trying way to hard to convince people to submit work. And then they want to lock you in to a 4 year contract.

The grammar on their site is terrible.

They don't even have their own domain? They are using a free yahoo account for e-mail?

A google search turns up ZERO results, except their own page.

A publisher search at Amazon turns up zero results.

SCAM SCAM SCAM RUNNNNNNNNN

listen to the first answerer.

to answer your question,i would simply put in all the content i wanted - and split the book up into categories or sections somehow, with like content together. im sure you can think of a clever way to display your work using that suggestion. good luck =D
