Because my room has a sliding door to the outside, and i leave it open pretty much all the time! My mom doesn't like me to, but if I don't it gets pretty hot and I can't really sleep! But while it's open bugs and who knows what else gets in! (no screen!) What should I do?

oh yeah, the previous owner (or some punk!) thought it'd be funny to put a bullet in the AC unit outside, so they did, and now it doesn't work!

Um...I wouldnt recommend it. Especially if your not in a nice neighborhood. You should get one a cheap fan, either a window one, or a standing one.
If some punk came and shot out your AC, what stops someone from coming and breaking in...or actually WALKING IN since you leave your room, and your house easily accessible. Or some perv could walk right in and kidnap you, and, uh, do 'stuff' to ya, then maybe even kill you.
I can NEVER sleep with any kind of door open, even if its just a closet or something. It also has to be PITCH black.
...yeah, I'm weird like that.

Please--Please lock the window for now! If you really want to
keep the fresh air flow-- measure the open side placement
for a regular screen. Reinforce the bottom half with plywood,
painted whatever color you pick. remember to place a broom handel on the bottom of the door to prevent others from
breaking in the house and remember to remove the broom handel and lock the door when leaving for school.
Another solution is holed board measured to fit the screen entry, covered in netting or screen, put in place of screen.
If the screen is placed on the outer portion, and the board is in the screen slat, you can even use hooks to hang things on!
Just remember to close the window before leaving!

While it is not safe at all to leave your door open to prowlers, rapists, and whatever, I can see how it would be hot. However you can keep bugs out by just buying some nylon net at Wal Mart (72 inches wide; 57 cents per yard) and thumbtack it over the doorway. If you aren*t home I would close it.

Uh, i dont want the RACOONS getting in! CLOSE THE DOOR! Mom's right(for once, haha)
My room's fickle because of where my window is(east) so it's hot and cold in the same night(and i cant sleep to begin with!) but a FAN helps(blankes near by4 when it gets cold). YOu know, htose desk fans, not a window fan(brrrr, as it gets down bellow 60 sometimes here)
Yes, i realize i got chatty, but i get chatty when i'm nervous...just finished math test, and i have a PAPER due friday! It's only hte 10th :( Hmm, that's what i get for being smart *pouts*
EDIT: Posh, your not alone. My ALARM CLOCK sometimes keeps me up...i like my room DARK at night.

There is a screen that you can buy that will fit the opening of the sliding door. It is a temporary screen that comes down when you want it off. I believe it is held up with velcor strips.
The carol wright catalog sells them.
Check any catalog that you get in the mail.
