I'm one of the lucky parent's that get to spend every day with my children. One is in first grade, one is 3 so I am going to spend as much time as I can before there both in school. They only grow up one time. I don't understand why "SOME" People have kid's and work when they don't have to. I used dto work in daycare and GEESH some parents are lame...WHy have kid's if your going to pay someone to RAISE them for you. Some people call me lazy because I get to stay home, some are jealous, which I can understand and to those of you that CANT stay home but wish you could..Your missing out on alot, and I hope someday soon things will work out better..

Yes.....I am so lucky to be his wife, for the priveledges he gives me to be a stay at home mom, and the sacrifices he makes to keep "bringing home the bacon."
I never thought about it when we made the choice of me quitting my job and staying home when he went offshore, but as I sit here alone alot, I realize how much he has and will continue to do so that I can still be here for our youngest one (13).
All women/men who get to stay home, need to stop and thiink of what an inconvienence and strain it is on the spouse, to be responsible for everything they own, or make payments on or the things they may miss because they are the "bread winner."
In todays world, kids need someone at home to guide them in the right direction while the other shows them responsibility.

My wife is a stay at home wife/mom who takes care of our 17 month old twin girls. But I have a home office so it's not like she's completely on her own. I actually WISH I had an office I could drive into though. I'd get WAY more done without all the distractions and noise. Home offices aren't all they're cracked up to be. No separation between work and home.
PS: I feel sorry for the kids with parents who BOTH work while they sit at day care for 4-5 hours after school. What's the point of having a career if you're spending 2/3 of your income for somebody else to raise your kids? And people wonder why their children grow up so disfunctional.

My wife did this for nine years. At some point the lack of mental stimulation became too much, and she decided that she had to go back to work to feel fulfilled. The kids are old enough not to need constant mom time. She is now working on getting into grad school to pursue her PhD. It was a real strain on our marriage when she felt her talents were being underutilized. She is looking ahead to having a career so that when the kids leave home she doesn't look around and say "now what do I do?"
That's just our situation. You may have an entirely different experience.

Nope, we both work. But I feel like the SAHM that puts in 40 hours at the office. My husband is on 4-midnight and I work 7:30-4pm.

I am at the moment. We decided not to put our daughter in daycare until she was at least 6 months old... But my Hubby has had to work two jobs to pay the bills...
I'm looking now for one but most of them are not paying enough for me to leave the home (it would all go to daycare)...

No, in fact my income is the higher of the two. If I had the ability to stay home, I'd take it in a heartbeat. Children only grow up once.
