That is Fred Thomson, formerly a senator from Tennessee. He has played the DA on Law and Order for the last few years. He was a lawyer and a real district attorney before going into acting. He has decent political credentials, but is , so far, not very clear in his positions about anything.

They are all actors. however if fred thompson runs for president then it is a great day for both the USA and the UK. he is as good and honest a man as they come.
i have followed his carrear all my life . id venture to say there is little or no dirt on him anywere. so the Americans Actually have a chance to fix the absolute MESS G W Bush has created and continues to make worse.
of couse i could be wrong, he could turn out to be a lout. but i doubt it for now.

Fred Thompson (who I recognise as the Air-Traffic Controller in Die Hard 2). He's already a politician (well former-Senator) and he's also a lawyer who was involved in the Watergate hearings so he sounds well qualified.
