Dreams are your subconcious mind working while you are asleep. If you want to dream say of someone, think of this person before you go to sleep and you will dream of them.

I starred this question -
I too have wondered about my dreams .
I think the experiences we have had during the day and the things that we worry about or are fearful of (and so on ) have an affect on our dreams.
I also wonder if some of the reasons that you are not dreaming , have something to do with your quality of sleep ?
You could discuss that with your doctor.

experiment with your thinking just before you go to bed -tell yourself that you are going to remember your dreams and keep a pencil and paper right by the bed . Record anything you can remember -sometimes it may be only a 'feeling' write it down .

I haven't heard of any person who is able to control his dreams or how often he can dream. Precisely because the unconscious side of our brain is more active when we're asleep than when we are awake. It receives information subliminally when we are awake and whatever anxieties we have, may be expressed in our dreams when we are asleep. Normally, we have dreams when we are dead-tired, it is at this situation when we experience REM (Rapid-Eye Movement), the deepest part of our sleep and is also the stage that we dream. Our brain dictates that, we cannot consciously control it. sorry to disappoint you.

Try to release stress prior to sleep. By the way don't be too tired otherwise sleep will be like no sleep thus no dreams going along.
