My car battery died in my 2001 honda civic car and i want to get it jump started, but I am parked in my garage front end in. I have been trying to put my car in neutral so i can pull it out and get it jump started. Any ideas?

The cover for the shift interlock release emergency release is found to the left side of the gearshift lever when the lever is in Park. It is a small slot that has a cover on it. You need to pry up the insert using a small flat tipped screwdriver to get access to the release slot. Here's what honda says to do in the owner's manual

Shift Lock Release

This allows you to move the shift lever out of Park if the normal method of pushing on the brake pedal and pressing the release button does not work.
1. Set the Parking brake.

2. Remove the key from the ignition switch.

3. Put a cloth on the edge of the Shift Lock Release slot cover next to the shift lever.

Use a small flat-tipped screwdriver or small metal plate neither are included in the tool kit) to remove the cover. Carefully pry off the edge of the cover. 4. Insert the key in the Shift Lock Release slot.

5. Push down on the key while you press the release button on the shift lever and move the shift lever out of Park to Neutral.

6. Remove the key from the Shift Lock Release slot, then reinstall the cover. Make sure the notch on the cover is on the left side. Depress the brake pedal and restart the engine.

Try to press the clutch, if you have a standard. If you have an automatic transmission, try to press the gas pedal and the brake at the same time all the way down, while doing this, try to adjust the steering wheel and put it on reverse. This should help you backed out of your garage.
Hope this helps.

if there's still some juice left in that battery, put it back on and put the battery cables back on as well. then go inside, turn the key to on, now press on the brake pedal and put it into "N". it should work no. make sure your e-brake is down and make sure there isn't anything under the tires to keep it in place.

There is a shifter release button on the shift lever base. Just depress it while pulling the lever back.
