1 mile equal 1.6 kilometer. It means 1 kilometer equals about 0.625 mile. We use mile anytime we are talking about distance.

= 3280 .83 feet = .6214 miles.

You use kilometers if you are using the centimeter/gram/second system. Used by scientists and most of the world, but not in USA.
