It all started about 5 weeks ago when my roommate moved out and took her dog with her. I wasn't even aware that he had fleas. She used frontline and kept his areas clean, but now I'm suffering. I vacuum at least 3 times a week and throw out the bags. I've fogged the apartment 4 times. I've washed all my towels, bedding, throw pillows, curtains etc. or dry cleaned them a few times. I've sprayed the house with the aerosol cans of flea killer that kills fleas and larva at least 4 times. Last week I tried the carpet powder. Following all the directions. And about 2 days ago I used borax. I woke up this morning with bites! UGH I can't seem to stop them. It's making me crazy. The apartment complex even called in an exterminator who sprayed about 10 days ago. Does anyone have any info to help me please?????

Adult fleas can live 100+ days, and female adult fleas will drop 20-40 eggs per day... so you can see it's long-term vigilence --not just a couple of weeks/applications-- that'll rid your home of fleas.

Even worse, flea eggs can be viable for a year before they hatch.

Keep vacuuming regularly, at least twice a week, and dispose of the vacuum bag immediately after you vacuum; don't leave it in your inside trash can, take it to your outside trash can after putting it into a trash bag you tie closed.

Get yourself some Adams Flea & Tick Spray at Wal-Mart, Target, online. Spray this anywhere you notice a flea... it'll kill adult fleas almost immediately and the residual effect is good for 5-7 days.

Keep this up for 3.5 months and you should be able to break the flea cycle 100%.

Oh, and wear socks around the house... not only will they keep you from being a food source for the fleas --and continuing the flea life cycle-- but if you're wearing white socks you'll be able to see even the ittiest-bittiest fleas (long before they're large enough to "feel") and you can target that area for the flea spray.

Hope this helps,

You are doing all the typical things to kill the fleas. If it seems like you get bit as you sleep then they could very well be in your pillows, mattress and box springs. You may want to pickup some of the allergy control covers like the ones shown on this site, http://www.allergycontrol.com/ , and I think you can get most of these things at Walmart too.

These covers cost more than vinyl waterproof covers, but they have a soft surface, don't crackle and they breath so you don't wake up in a puddle of perspiration. These covers will keep the fleas, dust mites and bed bugs confined until they die and sooner or later break the life cycle of the pests so they won't return. Plus I have found the liners keep your bedding cleaner too.

my parents always have a flea problem. they have 3 cats that go outside. they all wear flea collars and they use front line blah de blah ... i even get bit when i visit! but then in the winter they seem to go away. it has been that way since i was little. i keep telling my mom to keep those cats inside, but she insists that they "go play" lol
some of the other answers sound good too ... it might well be some kind of bed bug. i would try some of the mattress remedies suggested, but if you live in a climate that gets snow and ice in the winter just keep in mind that it should subside with the season.

Are you sure they are fleas? If your friend's dog had frontline and he put it on him every month. Your friend's dog didn't have fleas. That frontline works real good. Have you actually seem the fleas. You might have another bug in your apartment. Like bed bugs,Mites.

The safest and cheapest method of getting rid of fleas is to use a mixture of boric acid and salt. More information on getting rid of fleas is available at http://pests.in/fleas.html

I did a search and found a few sites that may help you out. It seems that alot of vacuuming is required and there are some suggestions for some candles and soapy water that seems to work....I'd give those a try.

believe it or not....cut a piece of a banana tree trunk and cut it to pieces and hide the pieces where the fleas are.
Not sure how it works but it does

sounds like they have taken over your mattress, [inside,] thats why you cant kill all of them, i would take the box springs and mattress out side and bomb it spray in side of them,
