Can you help with a problem?

Question

OK...I've been "climbing the corporate ladder" for about ten years now, and have hit an impasse.
They say that 10 minutes of *** kissing is better than 10 years of experience. The sad thing is...it's TRUE!
But unfortunately for me I lack two particular *** kissing skills....
I can't talk sports, and I'm not a drinker.
From my observations, all the best *** kissers can go have a beer with the boss, and talk about nothing but football or baseball, etc.. for hours...and leave him thinking..."Gee...he's a GREAT guy! He'll go far in this company"!
Don't get me wrong... I know that I have a GREAT personality...am a HARD worker, and I know my industry...but the sad reality is those things can only take you so far.
How do I get over this "Sports Talk/Alcohol" hurdle?
Do I just have to bite the bullet and become a sports fan and a drinker?
Please tell me that there is another way!

Don't lower yourself to their level. Just be good in your work, very good. Make yourself indispensable. Be nice to clients so that they only want to deal with you, ask for you by name. Your boss will soon realise how important you are. Put the fear in him that if you walk, the clients walk with you.

I've been there and done that.

Try this:
Go to the bar with the boss and drink soda and lime or whatever you want to drink, without alcohol, if that's what you choose. If you are asked why, explain that you are allergic to the stuff. Doctors orders. One drink and your eyes will split open and you go into seizures and die, kind of thing. Then, move the conversation.
So far as sports, pick up the newspaper and read the sports section for a few days or a week. Now you're an expert.

See? Easy.

Being a phony *** kisser will only get you so far for so long. When it comes down to it, those dudes have no idea what they're doing or talking about and in a case of crisis they'll be the ones trying to sweet talk people and it won't work. When something serious happens, the top dogs will need someone with skills and 'know how.' Just pray for the oppurtunity to get a chance to show them that you know what you're doing and you don't have to flatter someone to get where you need to go.

Don't worry, God has called his people to be successful and prosperous. Pray for it and believe you'll get where you want to go and you will. Remember, your steps are ordered in His name so don't sweat it. Do your best to show GOD that you're ready to move forward and He'll guide you. The Bible says if we're good stuarts over the small things God has given us now, we're showing Him that we can handle moving on to bigger and better things, and He'll give you those things, like I don't know, being at the TOP of your industry. Remember what happened to Joseph? Dude went from slave to 2nd in power over Egypt because he believed that God had his back no matter what.

hey, LQQK at Donald Trump. his focus is work/family. he has said that to be the best that he can be, he has to have a clear mind...you don't need to make an issue of it , but you can find another common denominator , sports is just one. Look up the head people running companies all over the world.Then check their Bio. You will see that most don't have time to hang and drink.. stay focused ..:o)
