Scold him, then ignore him. I'd leave the item there if possible so that he's not teaching you to play "fetch". Of course, he could just think you're not as smart as the average dog and has to keep showing you... You could get some bitter apple spray which the dogs can't stand, but humans can't tell, but you'd have to spray everything. Dunno if this'll help, but I had a dog was slightly chewing on a few things while I was at work and after he got into a bottle of vitamins I figured I'd better put a stop to it. He seemed to take items from around and on the stairs (where I tended to leave them for the next trip up or down.). I put out a brand-new unopened tube of Ben-Gay (no give-away scent near the cap or anything), and picked everything else up. That night when I got home from work, the Ben-Gay tube was on the landing upstairs with two itsy-bitsy tooth holes in it (and this was a golden retriever) and he never chewed another thing I didn't give him as long as he lived (about 12 years).

I'm with you on the paper towels.
But if I had to pick something different, it's batteries. Not that I go through them a ton, but when I need them, they are never around. It would be nice to just go pluck one off the tree outside.

It would be really nice if I had a yogurt tree, because yogurt disappears like shadows at noon from my refrigerator.
