It is getting ri-goddam-diculous. We always improve our O-Line year after year and our offense still blows. Our rush defense is always the worst in the league and our MVP each year is our kicker, Phil Dawson. COME THE F ON BROWNIES!

The Browns....ugh. (Im from Cleveland btw).

I was really excited about this game and going into it, thought we had a really good chance to win.
The only positive side to it was the fact I have Big Ben as my fantasy QB :\

Offensively they still have offensive line problems. Although they have tried to address this in the off season, yesterday's game was the first time the starting line played together. Joe Thomas looked like a rank amateur out there. I hope he's not another Tony Mandarich. He should be much much better than that. so look for him to improve. I dont know what was going on at the right side, but they were coming in through there as well. No blitz pickup at all anywhere and no passing lanes.

Frye, Anderson and Quinn (who did not play) all stare down their intended receivers from the moment they take the line. A decent defense has no problems picking up the play. Add that to a team of receivers who cant catch and you have an anemic point total. Winslow shows signs of brilliance, but he cant do it alone and he needs to quit dropping key passes as well. Edwards, man Im just tired of this guy.

Defensively we need the offense to keep us off the field for longer than three plays. Our defense is much better than it looked yesterday and actually we did rather well against the run in the first half. Is Big Ben really that good? Only time will tell.

Another 2-3 losses in the first half of the year and Romeo should be fired. Coaching Coaching Coaching. The Browns were simply not prepared for this game. Crennell said he had "no explanation" for what happened. Well, if you dont know..then who does and what are you going to do to fix it? They have all the talent they need and still cant get the job done - thats coaching. This time they need to be serious about getting a coach committed to the city and the team and isnt just looking for a raise because he's been in the game long enough to "deserve" a shot at head coach. Im sick of this crap.

Flipping a coin to decide who's the starting QB? Cmon! Plus Frye, Anderson and Quinn have had NO senior QB on the team to mentor them. Thats a recipe for disaster.
As to those wanting to start Quinn, do you really want him going out there without a seasoned offensive line? Lets benefit from the mistakes Cincinnati made with Klingler and Smith and our own debacle with Couch. Sure Quinn looked great against pre-season defenses, but now its for real and lets not rush him in before he's ready and get him hurt or mess up his head. Let Frye season up the line. He's done for anyway. Why in the name of all thats good the Browns dont go out and get a seasoned 2nd or 3rd stringer is just bizarre. Quinn needs an experienced mentor.

Lets see what happens next week against Cincy's defense. I look for Palmer to pass for 1473 yards ;) but if we can score against them it will go a long way towards getting us back on track.

I took the time to read some of the response above. Im not sure I give Romeo credit for picking up new talent - that's mostly Savage. I agree that we have a lot more talent now, but its not being used effectively. Honestly I have no confidence in Crennel as a coach.

I am a Steelers fan (One of the ones that don't totally hate the browns -It doesn't make that good of a rivalry when there is such a mismatch).

I believe that Crenel is turning the Browns around, it is just going to take some time.
(When he came in as coach, the Browns litterally had no talent, and were suffering from draft hangovers from picks like Tim Couch.)

A large problem that they have faced has been injury related. Losing Winslow, Braylon Edwards, and LeCharles Bently to injuries on and off the past few years has left an Offense that really hasn't had much time developing together.

Offensive line in particular has been a major problem area. Signing Joe Thomas was a huge move in the right direction, but being a rookie-you can't expect him to turn around the entire O-line in a year.

Eric Steinbach LG - Not as good as advertised, and still learning protection schemes-give him some time.
Hank Fraley - should not be an NFL starting Center, He is here because of the injuries to LeCharles Bently.
Seth McKinney RG - needs more time to adjust.
Kevin Shaffer RT - should not be an NFL starting RT.

You add to this the fact that Jamal Lewis has never been known for being able to pick up Blitzes in pass protection and it amounts to problems when the Browns get behind and have to pass in order to catch up.

I will give Romeo a lot of credit for using his head (and not listening to the fans) and keeping Brady Quinn on the sidelines.
-----Quinn came into camp late and still has a lot to learn about being a Quarterback in the NFL. For your sake as a Browns fan, I hope he gives Quinn the neccessary time. Putting him in too early (and/or against a team with a tough Blitzing Defence like Pittsburgh or Baltimore) could result in a loss of confidence that could destroy his career (examples: Charlie Frye, Tommie Maddox, etc...). When Quinn comes into a game, you want it to be against an easier opponent, and you want the rest of the team to be ready to succeed -otherwise you risk the possibility of him being totally overwhelmed. Let him get warmed up and start slowly. It would not have been pretty for him to have been thrown to the wolves in Pittsburgh -as it would have reminded people very quickly that when he was doing well in preseason it was against 3rd stringers and that defenses do not blitz much in preseason.

The Browns are the new Bengals. Just as the Bengals suffered through years of terrible play in 1990's, the Browns are doing that right now.

Crennel will turn the team around, but the previous managment (GM) ruined the team.

Similarities between Bengals/Browns:
Couch/Klingler
Green/Kijana Carter
... the list goes on. Only 11 players remain since Crennel took over. Their draft choices are getting better, but they are still 5 years away from knocking off the Ravens, Bengals, and Steelers.

Kauffman Stadium is a nice park since they have made changes to the outfield. I also am fond of AT&T Park because it has the nice view of Mc Covey cove, another good site at AT&T is Tim Lincecum and the BIG UNIT (Randy Johnson). I would love to visit the Ballpark at Arlington home of the Texas Rangers. Arlington Ballpark has a nice classic feel to the park such as the grandstands. I wish I was around during the 1990's so I could visit Tiger Stadium in Detroit because I am a Tigers fan and know allot about the history on the park and it is a classic park that should still be standing.

Well, the problem starts with poor coaching calls. Pulling the starting quarterback in the 2nd quarter, that is not giving him a chance and demoralizes the rest of the team. The defense has some good names, but they do not play well as a team, once again all on the coaches. Why draft high for a quarterback, have him play the best in pre season and not start him. I do not believe the score would have been the same in Brady Quinn was in there. They need a spark and Quinn is the answer. Hopefully Romeo will see this soon. They have one of the hardest Septembers in football, give Brady a chance.

First of all your Browns has a terrible record with QBs. That is number one on the list. Next is the fact that while the oline players you have been getting (this year excluded) were past thier prime. Then you have the fact that you have had three O Cordinators in three years, and like the head coach and the QBs, you have to have consistency there to improve. Then the Browns rely on older players on the Dline. Your team has to get younger there, which they are in the proccess of doing grabbing Smith as a NT from Cincy. Your oline this year will get better. You have three new starters (LT, LG, and RG) this year and they need time to gell.

I too feel your pain. I hate sitting in "Heinz Field West" watching an inept Cleveland Browns get spanked. I also hate thinking "there's always the year after next," after the first game. You have to have some serious "stones" to be a Browns fan.

I feel your pain, man. Its about time they field something other than this pseudo-expansion team every year. I'm tired of Crennell and his 1-12 record all time against the division. I'm tired of seeing the lack of talent and wasted talent. I'm tired of the coaching changes. I'm tired of the Browns constantly giving another defensive coordinator his big break to be our new sub-par head coach. I'm tired of the Pittsfield fans coming into our stadium and making more noise than the Cleveland fans. (I sooooo hate the Steeeeelerz). I'm tired of watching three downs and out. I'm tired of waiting for a flash of brilliance on defense or special teams, 'cuz lord knows its not coming on offense. I'm tired of waiting for next year. I'm just tired.

I watched the Steelers beat the Browns yesterday & all I can say is "how pathetic" the Browns looked. Why didn't Brady Quinn play? Surely he couldn't have done any worse than the rest of the team, could he? Maybe some heads need to roll in order to get a decent team huh? Should we start with Romeo or should it start above him? Romeo stated after yesterday's game, that he couldn't figure out what went wrong. Duh!!! Maybe we should send Romeo Crenell to..um..Michigan?

~~meg~~ I'm with you & there's always hope.

I am right with ya Timmy , every year its the same crap we go through the off season getting our hopes up on what could be then we get slapped in the face again with the same old crap , its time for the fans to rise up and let the front office know we are not going to take this crap anymore.
