The obvious question is WHY anyone would deliberately put themselves through four months of hell like this ?

If they accidentally killed Madeleine, why would they go to so much trouble to hide it. Accidents happen all the time. The McCanns have nothing to do with this. They just made a mistake in leaving the children alone.

They now say the DNA sample could simply be a hair, or a flake of skin and could have been passed on by simply Madeleine having previously touched a suitcase or bag that was later put in the boot.

The police are clutching at straws because they need someone to blame.

It is a DISGRACE that these parents are being put through this living hell, and something needs to be done to stop it.

Absolutely agree ...............what kind of sick imagination do you need to conjure up some of the scenarios being posted on here.?

I see grieving parents, not the monsters from hell .

Armchair theorists and sickos abound on this site.

Innocent until proven guilty.

edit,
You can say that for sure then can you kamran?
Are you psychic? Were you there?
Or are you just an ignoramus who states his opinion as if it were fact.

The truth is, someone knows something about a little girl that seems to have vanished from the face of the earth. There were blood traces, and some people think it is unlikely someone on the outside would harm a child, drawing blood, then remove her from the scene, esp as it would not be easy to do this, a stranger finding this opportunity. The McCanns may or may not be guilty, but right now, they are the closest suspects, and if it were your child, and this evidence turned up, in a car of a person that purchased something from your garage sale, you would not brush it off as just something from the past, without full investigation. As for accidents, that seems very possible, and police have been gentle in putting their theories forward to the McCanns. Tiny specks of blood on curtains and windows, could be from a syringe, and with the circumstances of the children being left alone, points to the possibility of an overdose of a sedative. What about if the child found drugs that the parents were using? Did you know that some children die from chewing up their parents cigartettes? One thing is certain, they do not measure up on the childcare level, even if that is all they are guilty of

to be honest in most countries the parents of a missing child (presumed dead) are automaticly suspects. The police should investigate in a rippling circle effect.
Start with the parents, then friends they knew at the rest, then staff other residents ext. It is not a cse that what the police are doing is wrong but more that they have done things in the wrong way.
If they have found DNA in the vehicle that was hired after she was reported as missing then they have to look into this and question the parents again.
Lets face it they have spent every secound they can in frontv of a camera looking for publicity. i would do exactly the same if it was my Son missing. i know of another killer that also acted very much the same, Ian Huntley.
I think we should all stop jumping to conclusions and wait to see what the evidence says.

I don't know what your definition of hell is but to me spending 4 months in a Villa near the beach, sitting by the pool, dumping the other kids in the creche and taking them to the zoo now and again, having friends and family come and stay with them, private jets, continental breakfasts... Oh and not to mention the fund which seems to be growing by the day... That doesn't seem like hell at all.
Before everyone jumps on me, I do realise if they had nothing to do with it they will be suffering a lot, but the question was made as if they had something to do with it and why would they put themselves through hell after doing it.

Four months of staying in Portugal, visiting the pope and flying around the world. Sounds like hell to me. Fair enough if they had no part in the death of Madeleine then you are right that they are going through a lot. If she did die due to neglect then the McCanns are probably smart enough to know that means going to prison and losing their jobs as doctors. I know I would prefer a million pounds and a long vacation to a stint in prison the loss of my lifestyle and the hate of everyone I know.

To those who keep saying find Madeleine. You do not require a body to prove a murder has occurred.

Someone would take the trouble to conceal an accident to save their own bacon and keep their freedom. You can still go to jail for killing someone unintentionally. They were asked if they sedated the kids. I hope they didn't, but if they did, and it went wrong, this would at the very least be manslaughter. Even though the intention is not to kill, the sedation is deliberate and blame can be apportioned for the consequences.

At last, someone else who thinks like me. Yes the Mcann's screwed up by leaving their children unattended, but we all live by our mistakes, and I think they are probably going to live through that hell for the rest of their lives, but Portugese police are under pressure to get the case settled, and have no real evidence, that the parents are to blame. I wish they would find Maddie, Alive, or dead, I think it would prove that her parents are innocent of her killing. It is a disgrace the way people are reacting to the Mcann's. They have enough to contend with.

Because the whole thing has snow-balled.... the case has become so high profile... the McCanns could not have imagined it would become that big. They are both doctors. They won't be for very long if they are found guilty. So the more they hide the more they have to hide.

It is perfectly natural for the parents to be suspects - they would have been right from the start had this incident occurred in the UK. It is up to the Police to do their job, conduct a full investigation and put a case together for Court - that is the only place to decide what happened and who is responsible. You cannot randomly dismiss people from an investigation because you don't "feel" like they would have done it. The parents may be going through living hell but it is a hell of their own creation.

If they confess, they

1) Loose the Twins
2) Ruin their careers and livlihoods

You cant sit their and completely rule out the possibility of them being innocent, just because you cnat bear the thought they they could have done aything. They could have concocted an elaborate 'abduction plot' to cover their own tracks.

They have a lot to loose if they are found guilty.

I agree but if there was some kind of evidence found it is only right for the police to investigate it, what I do think is that everyone should back off, and let them grieve and try to get on with their lives in peace.
