there's no way to apply without getting married.
and there is a huge difference between a hard working person and a pedophile!
She did not cross the border, she overstayed her visa which is different.
No, you do not need legal papers to have your own business call the IRS, they will explain to you.
She speaks english, and she knows she broke a civil law overstaying but she has always contributed to the American Society.
Her son's school has always awarded her for her help and cooperation to the system, she volunteers as translator, she does a lot of social work in the community.
She is against marrying someone for business, you can't apply for citizenship or residence just like that is very hard.
She would tell you to kick all this criminals back to their home country.
She respects our history, holidays and way of life. Admitts her mistake YES, thats why she is asking for advice.

she sounds very smart and motivated...so why did she break the law in coming here and are here papers false? i assume so. the fact is she is illegal and will have to pay the consequences for this decision. she should hire a lawyer and petition to stay as a contributing person, they sometimes give special consideration if the circumstances merit it.

i hope she finds a legitimate solution. she is the kind of immigrant we want and need, too bad she didn't do things right.

Well, it says a lot that she didn't marry to stay- although her child is a legal citizen.

Maybe she'll change her mind. In the meantime she should probably start the legal process for becoming a citizen now,
while everybody's still not sure about the process- even those enforcing this particular law.

Corners will be cut, there are no set guidelines, and it's probably better to do it now rather than wait until she has to pay a small fortune to live here, or something.

I dont believe it. But as a hypothetical question, she broke the law to come here. Not a character trait I look for in a good citizen. What happens the next time she gets in a bind, what if that time her crime hurts someone else. What if next time she is forced with a decision she takes someone's life. She does not have to worry about repercussions, she isn't a citizen. All she has to do is go back "home". I do not believe in rewarding illegal actions. She came here illegally, she should leave.

It still comes down to the facts. She's here illegally. While being here these six years, she should have been trying to become legal. I'm a little puzzled on how she owns a business without being legal. Business license requires certain paperwork.

Illegal's should do the right thing and make the effort to be legal, even if it means going back to where they came from. That would be ultimate proof of there good intentions to follow the law and do whats right.

Here illegally? Leave. She needs to do what she was supposed to do in the beginning. Register to become a US citizen like every other law abiding immigrant in this country.

She should apply for citizenship or go home.

I don't see much difference between her and the pedophiles, rapists, and murderers that are here unlawfully.
