The 'creationists` answer, according to
Clarence Darrow, is :
"God put all those bones there just
to test the faith of all those scientists."
Your sister wants to believe, and will go to
foolish extremes to negate anything that conflicts
with her belief. It's sad, but she's family,
so be tolerant.

Dinosaur bones are displayed in museums all over the world, but some people have believed and told their children that dinosaurs don’t fit with the Bible and so they must be a big hoax designed to convince people of evolution.
While denying their existence may seem like a quick and simple way to avoid the topic, this response is going to prove to be hard to swallow as people come in contact with the evidence.
The thing is, dinosaurs fossils have been found on all seven continents—from North America to Antarctica. Their traces are even found on a few isolated oceanic islands. We have found the remains of their bones, eggs, footprints, and even some imprints from their skin.
There can be no doubt about it, dinosaurs really did exist. The evidence for their existence is too overwhelming. An honest investigation indicates that dinosaurs definitely roamed this earth.
That said, there is plenty of evidence of man and dinosaurs living contemporaneously.

Well if you want to get technical with her, the Bible does mention dinosaur-like creatures. It just uses names like “behemoth” and “tannin.” Behemoth basically means kingly, gigantic beasts. Tannin includes dragon-like animals and sea creatures such as whales, giant squids, and marine reptiles like the plesiosaurs that are now extinct.
The Bible's best description of a dinosaur-like animal is recorded in Job chapter 40. “Look at the behemoth, which I made along with you and which feeds on grass like an ox. What strength he has in his loins, what power in the muscles of his belly! His tail sways like a cedar; the sinews of his thighs are close-knit. His bones are tubes of bronze, his limbs like rods of iron. He ranks first among the works of God…” (Job 40:15-19).
The main problem with the account of "dinosaurs" in the Bible is that in Genesis it states that all land animals and man were "created on the sixth day," which would suggest that man and dinosaurs co-existed, and as literal interpreters like to say, there was thus never a time when "dinos 'RULED' the Earth."
Basically an arrogant attack on the idea that man was not the FIRST thing 'created' on Earth.
Despite all arguments to the contrary and all "evidence" pointing towards fossilized remains of humans with dinosaurs (which have never been verified by a reputable source) it can safely be said that dinosaurs and man did NOT live together, that Earth is far older than 6000 years, and that there are many other strange anamolies in the Bible that nowadays people don't insist on following (not wearing mixed fibered clothes, not planting two different seeds in the same field, etc.).. because.. it's.. "The OLD testament." (So isn't Genesis?!)

What on earth makes you think that dinosaurs did not exist?
Is it possible that you are trying to reconcile creationism and evolution? The two are not mutually exclusive. It is possible to believe in divine intervention and evolution.
Regardless, dinosaurs did exist. The evidence is overwhelming. Please study geological timetables and you will observe the best evidence next to the actual skeletons at the Metropolitan Museum of Natural History found in just about every major city on earth.
If you really want to confound creationists check out the fossil footprints found at Fossil Rim near Glen Rose, Texas.
Sometime in the 1970's fossil hunters found a particularly beautiful and well preserved dinosaur footprint in the bottom of the Paluxy River in what is now Dinosaur Valley State Park.
They removed the footprint and to their amazement found a neatly placed human footprint BENEATH it. This of course flies in the face of the standard accepted version of creationism.
For those who believe that dinosaurs DID exist they are firm on the point that they did so before the emergence of man, yet here is rock solid proof (no pun intended) that man (or his progenitor) preceded or co-existed with the dinosaur.
Now, to really blow your mind explore the Paleocene and Eocene Epochs (periods of time in the Tertiary Period of the Cenozoic Era) and look at artists renderings of the animals that appeared and went extinct in that same period. For some reason these creatures are largely ignored in school. These are some of the strangest looking creatures ever found on earth and gave rise to the mammals we know today.
Class is dismissed, your homework is below - go, and expand your mind.

The Americas aren't mentioned in the bible, neither are cats. The last time I looked, both existed. One of them spent a considerable time in my lap this morning and meowed at me, demanding to be fed. And I'm pretty sure I live in the center of the American continent. Either that or the government has been lying to me.
I'm pretty sure dvd players, ipods, and video games also lack biblical mention. I don't own an ipod, but I do own the other two. Both seem to exist despite lack of biblical mention. The bible does mention in several places that the earth has corners. four of them to be exact. This implies the earth is flat. Spheres don't have corners. I've been around the world and I've never seen a corner. Perhaps I didn't look in the right places?
Its wonderful how fundamentalists of all stripes delude themselves. Perhaps they should be given cats.

Well, this is just silly (what these people are telling your sister). Most young earth creationists do not even believe this (they believe that the earth is young and that people and dinos lived together, etc.).
The bones speak for themselves. They are most definitely not mammal bones rearranged. They are completely different. You might want to give her a good book on dinosaurs - by Robert Bakker or Jack Horner.

You have a lot of good answers here, but there is one that I don't see. This would be more of a question of what is God. He obviously isn't man since man has a limited lifespan. So, if we assume that God has an unlimited lifespan, then isn't is plausible that a day, or even an hour, in God's time could be thousands or millions of years in our time. Maybe you can suggest to her that The Bible was written for man in terms that even man at the time it was written could understand it. Man at that time did not have the knowledge of fossils as we do or of the emmense time on Earth that we have.
And in my opinion, even if the Bible is the word of God, it was written by man and interpreted by man and translated by man over and over.

Of course dinosaurs existed, as you correctly surmise. Unfortunately, people like your sister are seldom swayed, even by overwhelming evidence and common sense. I don't mind religion in general, but I do have a problem when it takes over somebody's ability to be rational.
Read up on some creationist arguments and ways to debunk them. You're going to need it, apparently.
