I think what it really draws is a sort of horrified facination at such horrific behavior in public, rather like having your eye drawn to a tragic accident even though you try not to look.

It takes so much more self control and maturity to conduct oneself in a polite and considerate manner than to "let it all hang out" as they saying goes.

Some younger people think it makes them look "cool" to vent their anger and frustration onto others publically. However, all the looks and stares they interpret as admiration are really people just shocked to their toes and they think badly of the person.

I know that I have no admiration for those who behave rudely or inconsideratly in public or private. Often if somebody is that rude in public they are much worse in private. We usually put on public personas which are far different than how we are in private. So, if somebody's public persona is terriably rude they must be horrific bullys and abusive ignorant beasts in private.

So, no I don't think rudeness draws any amount of subliminal admiration. I also believe that even the friends of a person who behaves so badly secretly have little respect for that person. I am sure they talk about him/her behind his/her back. It isn't kind, but it does seem to offend most people when somebody is bieng rude or inconsiderate to another in public. Sympethy goes to the person it is directed at and often open disaproval is directed towards the offender.

I don't think so. I deal with the public on a daily basis and when people are acting rude usually others are very annoyed by their behavior. And in my line of business being rude and unruly can quite possibly get you arrested, depending on how far the person wants to carry their comments. So I don't think that anyone would have much admiration for an idiot that would get themselves arrested for shooting on their mouths.

In my opinion, absolutely not! Rudeness only makes someone look like an idiot. It takes creativity and discipline to be polite when you feel like acting otherwise.
