Hi there, Im trying to find out how to use word wrap on a paragraph of text. Im working from a Basic Computing Workbook and Im now totally stuck, cant find word wrap anywhere on the menus. I have tried the help facility on Word and the net, with no joy.
P.S. Im using Microsoft 2000.

Please only answer if you know the answer ... cheers

There is no word wrap option. Word automatically wraps text onto new lines when you reach the right margin and this is not something you can turn off. So there is no control over word wrap.

You can prevent word wrap by pressing 'enter' on a line before it gets too long to fit on a line. But what you end up with are lots of 1-line paragraphs instead of a document.

Word wrap means that the text automatically starts a new line at the edge of the page without you needing to press RETURN as you did in the old typewriter days. The default setting for word wrap is ON and I cannot think of a situation where you might need to turn it off.

I'm wondering if there could be confusion with Notepad. Notepad is a very basic word processor - you can't do much like bold print or italics. However, if you click on 'Format', in the drop-down list there's an item 'Word Wrap'. If this has a tick, the text wraps round neatly. If there's no tick then the text is one very large long line until you press RETURN.

Hope that might be some help!

Word does wrap to the next line automatically. Do you mean you want to justify the paragraphs so they are a block of text rather than have a ragged right hand margin? If so then go to Format, Paragraph then under General alignment is Justified (you need to highlight paragraphs first though). Alternatively there is a word-wrap tick box under Tools Options but I’ve never used it so not sure what it does as mine wraps and the box isn’t ticked.

word wrap is not an additional feature more a built in one
what word wrap does is when you get to the end of the line of text if you have extra letters to add to the word that you are writing it drops down onto the next line (try justifying text etc)

hope this helps

If you keep typing the words will automatically wrap on to the next line when you get to the end of the line. Where the wrap happens depends on where your right margin is. Maybe you just need to move your right margin?

microsoft word has no word wrap. typing in it automatically constrict your paragraphs into a bordered paper. try changing the zoom level to 100% or less to see the whole width of paper and you'll see that your paragraph is well within its limits. if you can't see what the page will look like, change view into "print layout"

if however your question pertains to restricting your paragraph to be justified, the justify button can be seen on formatting toolbar

Just click on 'Options' on the tool bar.
You get a drop down menu with word wrap there.

Not quite sure what you are looking for, but you could either type it in a text box or cell. Or if you want it around a picture select tight on the picture tool bar.

Highlight the cell, right click on the cell, go to table properties --> cell --> options, then check off "fit text."
