I found a very intersting mushroom, or what I think is a mushroom in my back yard. It has the feel of a mushroom, it's an off white color, it has a round center on the top, and if you were to push down on the top of this center, a puff of brown dust 'poofs' out, which I am thinking is the spores that help spread to other areas. It was very interesting and I was wondering if anyone could help me determine what it is! I live in Nebraska if that helps. Thanks

I found this site that helps ID mushrooms. If you can take a photo of it, someone from this site may be able to help.

Also, you might consider visiting your public library. They will likely have books on identifying mushrooms in your area.

It may be a puffball

and it may not be!

Do not eat any fungi (mushroom) unless you have POSITIVELY identified it.

I know the edible puffballs in Michigan anyway, do not have FEET. They are just balls.

For goodness sake people, poison mushrooms can be deadly and there are a lot of poisonous ones that look like edible ones. Never recommend a person eat a wild fungus without seeing it and having the education to recommend it.

Unless you are willing to try it first!

Thats a puffball. Its a fungus and that's how it disperses it's spores on the wind.

Agree with Omni, puffball. Edible and choice when young.
