"The Lord said unto me, 'I will take my rest and I will consider in my dwelling place like a clear heat upon herbs.' " -- Isaiah 18:4-5

Herb (marijuana) is a Godly creation from the beginning of the world. It is known as the weed of wisdom, angel's food, the tree of life and even the "Wicked Old Ganja Tree". Its purpose in creation is as a fiery sacrifice to be offered to our Redeemer during obligations. The political worldwide organizations have framed mischief on it and called it drugs.

I don't smoke marijuana, but If I was to get caught with Marijuana and I was arrested.. i think I would sue the Police department for "Discrimination of Religion."

We know that Christianity teaches us not to be drunk with wine. By extension, any kind of intoxication makes us less intelligent, less able to love our neighbors, and less able to discern the Holy Spirit.

Wine can certainly be a blessing, and Jesus clearly enjoyed drinking wine in moderation. Marijuana is a sedative-hypnotic, and it creates a very different type of intoxication. Marijuana induces a hypnotic state, making the user vulnerable to suggestions. Anyone who has been with a marijuana-using group of friends knows how easy it is to get "bummed out" by negative suggestions, e.g., that someone is a "narc." This is because our critical thinking abilities are turned off under the influence of marijuana. In a dreamlike trance, you are unable to sort out the truth from the false. Sometimes dangerous decisions are made in trancelike states, and sometimes powerful and irrational emotions can emerge later as flashbacks. Christians should also recognize the danger of hypnotic states for receiving demonic influences.

The punishments for possessing marijuana tend to be too harsh. However, given the dangers of marijuana intoxication, it is important for our laws to impose penalties to deter those who would enter uncritical hypnotic states, endangering themselves and others.

Cheers,
Bruce

Dude. I suggest your obtain some books to introduce you to Biblical Hermeneutics. You say "The Bible predicts some herb's prohibition" then quote a verse from 1 Tim about the ongoing debate among early Christians about dietary laws. Dietary laws about eating the meat forbidden in the Mosaic Law. Eating meat. As in dead animals. Not smoking reefers. Then you quote a verse from Ezekiel which mentions a plant. The mention of a plant here is a metaphor for the Jewish nation. Did you know that not every mention of a plant in the Bible has to do with pot? Just wondering. Then you misquote Isaiah. I've looked at multiple translations and none of them say "a clear heat upon herbs". Many of them mentions the "heat of the harvest" or something like that. What translation are you using? Anyway, from the context, it's pretty obvious this passage is talking about a grape vineyard. Grapes. Grapes are not pot. Plus the context of the Isaiah passage has to do with God obliterating a nation's crops in judgment. Not smoking them for recreation. I could go on but seriously, don't try to bend the text to justify a decision you already want to make!

I disagree with your translation of the passage.

Isaiah 18:4-5

4 For thus the Lord has said to me: I will be still and I will look on from My dwelling place, like clear and glowing heat in sunshine, like a fine cloud of mist in the heat of harvest.

5 For before the harvest, when the blossom is over and the flower becomes a ripening grape, He will cut off the sprigs with pruning hooks, and the spreading branches He will remove and cut away.

Unfortunately, you can't "sue the police department" for enforcing a bad law, and you can't sue the federal government for passing it.

The powers of Congress are spelled out in the Constitution (see Article I section 8), and there is no such power to forbid people from smoking or drinking anything they want. However, the Congress went right ahead and made an illegal law, the police enforce it, and courts do nothing to stop them.

When alcohol prohibition was imposed, it took a Constitutional Amendment (the 18th) to give Congress that power. Later, it became obvious that the "cure" was even worse than the "problem" and the amendment was repealed.

Drug prohibition was imposed by Congress without any Constitutional power to do it, but they did it anyhow. And the "War on Drugs" has done more damage to America than prohibition or than any other war in history. For example, more than half of our jail cells are filled with nonviolent "drug offenders" while murderers and rapists are routinely released early due to "prison overcrowding". Most of the border violations and drive-by shootings are due to turf wars by druglords and gangs. By contrast, when was the last time you saw a shootout between competing liquor stores or a beer smugglers.

What translation are you reading?
"This is what the LORD says to me:
'I will remain quiet and will look on from my dwelling place, like shimmering heat in the sunshine, like a cloud of dew in the heat of the harvest.
"For, before the harvest, when the blossom is gone and the flower becomes a ripening grape, he will cut off the shoots with pruning knives, and cut down and take away the spreading branches."

It is because this passage does not say, " I am going to relax and inhale some smoke from some herbs that I plan to burn." There are several things in the bible that we as a modern society frown upon.

I live in Canada so if you are a US citizen than these laws do not apply. It is a well known fact that although marijuana is illegal in Canada, it is largly tolorated. My theory behind the reluctancy to legallize pot is simply because we currently do not have the technololy to detect if you are under the influance of pot say if you get pulled over by the police. Don't get me wrong or misinterpret me, they can detect THC in your person at any time but cannot tell if you just finished smoking a J or if you smoked one 2 days ago. Where if you where pulled over under the suspison of drunk driving the cops could simply make you blow into a breathalyzer and measure the exact amount of alchol in your blood. At this point of time we do not posses the technology do detect if you are high right now besides the obviouse tell tale signs of being baked. Red eyes, dry mouth, paranoia etc. But if you are like me and are a regular user, most will not get these symptoms anymore.

Theroy 2. Again this is Canada specific. As said above, marijuana use is illegal in Canada but is tolorated to the point of letting marijuana smoking cafe's similar to those found in Amsterdam to fly. Canada was on it way to the "Decriminalization" of Cannibis while the Liberal party was in office. In fact, at one point not many moons ago, marijuana was decriminalized for a short period of time meaning if you where caught with less then a specified amount of marijuana than you couldn't be charged for drug possesion. The worst case sinario was that the officer would confinscate your sticky-icky (and keep it) and let you go with a slap on the rist and no criminal charges. It wasn't untill you got caught with enough bud to and had the intent to traffic. For example, if you had a quarter pound all individualy devided in dime bags and quarter ounces than you would be busted for trafficing. C'mon now, who carries a QP of dimes for personal use?!?!?

Back to politics, since Conservative was voted into office, these new bills where dismissed in no time at all. In fact I believe this is one of the first matters taken care of. What a way to piss off people who just got your @$$ into office eh?

However, cannibis use in Canada is still very tolorated by autorities. Like I mentioned before, if you head out to Toronto Ontario you'll find dozens of Pot cafe's, just like in Amsterdam. The only differance is you must bring your own smokeables. Marijuana is not provided, however there are rooms where you can sit down in front of a Giant Vapourizer Hooka with your best MJ and smoke till you can't see anymore. Most places don't charge extra for using there equiptment but do have a cover charge for admission.

In fact, Young St in down town Toronto is commonly known as Youngsterdam now from all the cafe's popping up.

So fellow Cannibis smokers, if you really want to see Canada's laws chage to favour the use of marijuana than please vote Liberal. It was actually quoted by the Conservative government to implement a tough on drugs policy system similar to the US. This would mean no more buying pipes, bongs, seeds and the list goes on.

I know a lot of you Canadian's are thinking... Why vote Liberal for marijuana leaniency when the "Green Party" is all for it.

The answer, although the Green Parties main focus is to decriminallize pot. Do you really think in a million years that they would get voted in? I think not. This would just be a wasted vote if you ask me.

The Liberals are already seeing the light and are actively moving towards more freedom with Cannibis. It would not even suprise me to see promotion of this topic during campaignes.

So just hang in there. Our day is comming. Marijuana will be legal one day. Once the baby boomers all die off and a new generation of politicians hit the voters booth. Its just a matter of time.

P.S
I'm sure there are many more determining factors in the illegallization of marijuana than what I have specified above. Whether the reasons are fact of fiction. This is just things that I have taken notice in.

The bottom line is, if you want to see the law change for the greater good than its simply up to us as citizens of humanity to put a foot down and turn the tables. Everyone must take a stand and fight back. One way to show your enthusiasim for the decriminalization is to Visit Toronto during Cannibis week. I went this summer and it was the greatest thing I have ever experienced. In fact, I smoked a 3 paper J right beside a cop on a horse and conversed with him about Marijuana laws. I marched the streets of Toronto with a 5 foot, 6 lead hooka! This is a place and time for us to take our stand and show the government what a bunch of stoners are really like.

Did you know: The Marijuana March during Cannibis week has been around for 9 years. During this whole time nobody has every been hurt do to violance. There has never been any arrests made or charges laid to date. This basically what I am trying to get across is simply this. 25,000 stoners all together in one park have never caused a problem whether it be fights, theft or any other reason.

Now, lets turn the tables and replace 25,000 stoners with drunks instead. What will the out come be? Hummmmm.... I wonder.

So lets all get together and make this dream a reallity! Come on out to Toronto next May to show your support. Its fun, free and a blast. Lots of live music, good weed, guest speakers of political significance take the stand and tell our Government the Facts of Cannibis. The fact that you attend just proves how safe marijuana use really is. If you can be surrounded by this many stoned people and feel safe than there must be a reason why.

I do appologize for this answer being off topic from your question about the religion behind it, but I think that religion has little to do with the illegallization of pot. It's no shock that pot is safer than alcohol. Yet we are hearing everyday about people being scraped off the road due to drunk driving.

Yes you are correct. God made everything in this earth good. Its up to us man whether to use them wisely or abuse them.

However, please remember also that the law of man is very different from the law of God.
