Can you recommend a good weed puller?

I'd like to get one for my 87 year old grandad who's a keen gardener.

The Weed Hound sounds good. I had a quick search on internet but it looks like you can't get it in the UK.

I would recommend the "WEED HOUND". This is a fantastic tool.
Price is around $18. Is has a foot pedal and grabbing tines that help pull a weed with roots and all. The nice thing about the Weed Hound is that you don't need to bend down. The yanked out weed can be lifted and deposited in your pail or garden cart without much effort. Our whole neighborhood battled an ocean of dandelions that way, and we won.
The Weed Hound was invented in Edina, MN and I found mine at the large garden shops such as Menards, Home or Lowe's.

The quickest and easiest way to get rid of weeds in any garden is to use a hand held blow torch. You can buy one of these from your garden centre.

They come in a type which can be used by the operator in a standing position. Or, you can simply by the type I use which is hand-held.

What fuel? Gaz - the same as camping Gaz, buy it anywhere. Comes in long cans about the size of a body odour or hairspray can.

If using the blow torch method in a garden, be extra careful when working near fences and other woodwork. We're not starting a fire, are we?

Weed control by the flame method does not add any chemicals to your land or destroy nutrients within the soil in anyway. In some ways, burning may be of a benefit to the garden soil.

Burning is the method used by cerial farmers here in UK. I expect you've seen these sorts of fires, whole fields of stubble going up in smoke, usually wafting across the M-Way you're driving on - SLOW DOWN if this happens. Same thing as fog driving really.
