I'm in the Columbus area, If they arn't airing the Big Ten games, why was the Michigan game aired on Sat.? I don't understand who is behind this whole thing and why some games are on and others are not. Could someone please put this in a SIMPLE way that we can understand whoes calling the shots here? I've heard that Ohio State is somehow behind it but don't believe that is true at all.

The way it works is the Big Ten Network will get first choice of a game to aire. The second choice will go to ESPN. After that companies can pay to aire a game. Being that Ohio St played Akron, the television companies probaly thought that they would not enough money to aire the game.

First off, pity me cuz I am a Wolverine fan, yes we suck this year, and I don't know how, but that is for another discussion. Michigan like lots of other teams, have contracts with other stations like ESPN, TNT, ABC, and so forth which calls for them to play a certain amount of games on those stations. The stupid Big Ten Network is alienating some Big Ten Teams such as Ohio State because the Buckeyes want all their games on General Cable and not channels like ESPN so all their fans can watch them, even ones that can't afford a high cable bill. That is the reason why Time Warner won't sign is because they want it to be a pay channel on higher cable packages and the Big Ten wants it to be basic cable. They should have thought of that before they wanted the Big Ten Channel, it is not needed and now some fans are stuck not watching their favorite teams all because of corporate greed.
Good Luck on the season.

I'm an Ohioan too, and I'll tell you why. The Buckeyes have made a deal with "Big Ten Network" to air their games. And the cable company I use (Time Warner) won't carry the network because they want to make it available ONLY to premium customers. I'm not sure if Direct TV or any other Satellite provider carries the "Big Ten Network" or not. But I'm pretty upset about it too. I need my Buckeyes! And apparantly other Big Ten teams haven't made the same deal.
