Not in terms of ability (long way to go yet) but his targeting of Massa at the start of the Monza GP made the great man look like an amateur.

And James Allen's "shades of Schumacher" comment...come on James ! You castigated Michael every time he did it. Why then is it OK for Lewis ?

I'm being sarcastic. I'm not asking about his driving ability (I believe he's a long way off Michael) but his tactics. Michael was castigated for "chopping" other drivers at the start of races by ITV, Lewis receives no condemnation.

I think time will tell.
When Lewis first came on the scene, he was seen as a breath of fresh air, and as an amazing talent.
But with the recent discovery that he no longer gets the benefit of Alonso's setup information, it seems to be quite a coincidence that Alonso has gotten the better of Hamilton since this discovery.

Don't get me wrong, Hamilton is a great driver, but I think his success in the early part of year had a lot to do with Alonso and Alonso's experience.

Hamilton will be a great driver, but time will tell.

Hamilton has had a better start to f1 than Schumacher did in his debut season he set records for: Most consecutive podiums from debut race: 9 Most wins in a debut season: 4 Most pole positions in a debut season: 6 and now he is the Youngest F1 World Champion, plus he has won his first championship in the 2nd year of his f1 career and Schumacher was in his 4th i think but it is too early in his career to say wether he will end up "better" than Michael Schumacher, plus i think now the competition is abit tougher than when Schumacher was racing, what with massa and raikkonen being having lost and won by only one point in the last two seasons. Alonso looks like he could be a threat for the championship again in the future if renault sort themselves out and there are alot of good young drivers like Vetell and kubica who could become very good in the future

I believe Lewis will be a name to reckon with in the not to distant future. I've followed Lewis from karting days through till now and although most are surprised by his entry to F1, I'd have to say I predicted it would happen as it has. Perhaps not leading the championship but certainly in the top 3.

I think Lewis is like Schumy in that they are born naturals. I think all the excitement is he's British and it's been a while since they've had a brit leading a championship.

As for James commentary....it's a brit cheering on a brit, thats why it's ok

He could be, but it isn't fair to compare them. Michael has been in F1 for many years already whereas Lewis is just a newcomer. Obviously it is undeniable that Lewis has done very well, very impressive as a rookie. But it is still to early to say anything.

Michael is one of the sport's best drivers in history and there were times when it appeared that there were double standards that benefited him. But it doesn't change the fact that he IS indeed a great driver. As for Lewis, he is F1's new talent and people (mostly the British) are supporting him.

I hope so. I love a charger, and the way he dispatched Massa (fairly) shows that he races to win.

As long as he keeps his feet on the ground and doesn't resort to arrogance like Schumacher appeared to do, he'll be a better ambassador for the sport.

In my view Schumacher built up a cocoon of "yes men" to help him.

King of The Startline Chops has another protege in Hamilton! Schumi himself learned from Mansell and Senna. (watch start of 1991 German GP)

He's great, I will not make up my mind until after this weekends race at Spa, for me, the only ULTIMATE track left for drivers to bomb around.

Its rather ironic that both he and Alonso are benefiting from Schumacher's experience at Ferrrari. .

Only time will tell, but he's making Alonso resort to the sort of tactics Prost would use.

The first corner at Monza, and previous races, has shown LH to be able to adapt very swiftly to try and gain an advantage. Moving from the inside to an overtaking position around the outside was simply sublime.

The overtake on TR from a long way back, with only a little wheel slip was also lovely to watch.

In answer to your question though....I hope so, yes!! I was always in awe of the ex-champion's ability, but was unable to support him due to his resorting to cheating on so many occasions....LH should be careful not to tarnish his image by resorting to the ex-world champion's win-at-any-cost F1 pollution

Both good drivers, different style. I sense, Lewis Hamilton won't do some of the things Michael did....in order to win the race.

I think you'll find that when it comes to the technical side of it, Schumacher will be the greatest driver ever. He never went to a "top three team" to achieve greatness but it soon followed.

When Hamilton goes to Williams and in three years they become the best team, reinsert this question.

Its good to see an exciting young driver charge into F1. The enthusiasm and self belief is great for the sport.
How anyone can be slagged off for racing is beyond me. Let them race.
