Just wondered seems IVF is not a totally catholic thing to do goes against nature and frozen eggs unused is like abortion. When did her and Gerry marry? Do you think she was a virgin at marriage? It just doesnt add up. But I could be wrong.

Just saying catholics think IVF is a sin and she is running round visiting the pope. Also doubt she was a virgin when she married later in life and doubt she never used contraception before that's all.

Come on this catholic dogooder act is a bit odd from someone who has IVF and goes out on the lash and leaves her kids alone.

I have no idea how deeply religious either of the McCanns are - if they both have church backgrounds, it's hardly surprising if they should turn to it in a time of trouble, is it?
As for the IVF thing, they would hardly be the first to depart from the Roman Catholic church's position on it, I'd venture to suggest. I don't think that it is regarded as a sin exactly but the church does not support it.
Having said that, I've just read a document (link below) that sets out the position of the RC church in England and Wales and I have to say I'm not impressed. To me it seems to conflate a number of different issues - it seeks to associate IVF with embryo experimentation and so-called "designer" babies without good cause, in my view.
Unused embryos are discarded because the law limits the number that can be used in a treatment cycle. Embryos that are of good quality (i.e. have a good chance of implanting successfuly) that are not used can be frozen for later use. The selection of embryos for other purposes is NOT an integral part of IVF in normal circumstances and there are strict limits - with which I agree - on the uses to which embryos can be put.
If you leave that out it reads as though their objection has to do with the fact that conception takes place in a lab and not as a result of an act of sexual intercourse between the partners and that there can be complications. I say, so what?
This is from an organisation that refuses to endorse the use of condoms in Africa as a valid method, among others, of controlling the spread of AIDS because it is a method of contraception.

I'm not a Catholic and I have no interest in meeting the pope. What on earth would be the point of claiming religion? The only people interested in him are Catholics or desperate people, like the McCanns.
There are degrees of religion - I know many non virgin Jews, Anglicans, Moslems, etc etc. I notice you don't ask about Gerry's state of chastity. Why's that?

What is the point of criticising Kate and analysing all their past . The important thing here is to find Madeleine. So they made a mistake and left the children alone. Do you not think they are regretting this every second of their lives now and for ever. Come n now lets forget unimportant facts and concentrate on praying that Madeleine will be found live and well.

For the love of God what the hell has her religion got to do with anything? As for was she a virgin that is simply none of any of you,s business. The Pope gave her an audience out of love and compassion not because he was led to believe she was a bloody saint or anything. You sad ignorant low life. Grow up!!!

right here is the respond from the Compendium of the Catechism of the Catholic Church: 499. Why are synthetic insemination and synthetic fertilization immoral? 2373-2377 they're immoral by way of fact they dissociate procreation from the act with which the spouses supply themselves to one yet another and so introduce the domination of technologies over the muse and way forward for the human individual. besides, heterologous insemination and fertilization with using techniques that contain a individual different than the married couple infringe upon the main suitable of a youngster to be born of a mom and father primary to him, sure to one yet another with the aid of marriage and having the unique actual to alter into mothers and dads in straight forward terms via each yet another.

There is a benchmark in the cathloic church and no one can really live up to it but its the framework which you try to apply yourself to. So I wouldn't worry about it being absolutes myself however all the one you have listed are not mortal sin - that is saved for the taking of a life.

i think most people turn to God when something out of their control happens, the mcCanns turning to their faith, probably what they were brought up with is no different to anyone else praying to their god of their chosen religion.
How many people follow their religion to the "T".
If the mccanns are innocent, then the comfort in God will help them through this hopefully

I totally agree with you, but another thing is. If they're such good doctors they should know better than to leave three young children alone. If they are not arrested for that also I will not be impressed with our police. If it had happened in our country to anyone else we would be up in front of the judge and have our kids took off us.

nb "Benedict XVI, [...] chose to bless the McCanns even though they conceived their three children through IVF, which the church is against. Catholics pride themselves on being a varied group."
Just so's you know.

It's always a worry when people are ostentatious about their religion, when really these issues should be none of our business, suddenly their business is piped into our sitting rooms and offices whether we like it or not/
