They will not pay for the damage on your car because you were warned to change it and probably get one for free from them but you chose not to listen to their advice so it is your fault you pay now

Why are you asking us about your recall issues? Would it not be better to call your dealer and inform them of this problem and let them sort it out. It depends a lot on what the wording of the recall notice as to what is covered. Head gaskets as a rule don not just "let go" all of a sudden, They can leak for a few weeks before it becomes critical, usually giving you lots of time to get it repaired. You knew 2 months ago and you thought it wouldn`t happen so soon. I guess now you will have the time to get it fixed. Good luck

If you didn't take the car in for a recall within 2 weeks of being notified, most garages will not foot the bill for your head gasket.
If they allowed this, everyone would just wait until something bad happened and get the garage to pay for it - i.e a profit loss for them.
The point of a product recall is to prevent excessive spending on repairs (either on behalf of the customer or the dealership) and prevent accidents happening.
You should have taken it in when it was recalled, or at least made an appointment - that way if it had happened anyway, you could at least prove that you had the intention of getting it checked.

Recalls are tricky. If it is a defective part and you have been notified by Toyota, they will also give you information on what, if anything you can do or have done about the situation. If there is a true recall, they are asking owners to bring their vehicles in to have the part replaced. Once a recall has been sent out, it is your responsibility to have the part replaced before any damage is done.

Joanne, It would depend on the year, and mileage of your vehicle. If you purchased your Toyota with a warranty program your motor certainly would be entirely covered under warranty. Generally speaking Toyota's factory policy since 2004 has been 36,000 bumper to bumper miles on the entire car. The drive train ( engine, transmission, drive axles and wheel bearings are warranted for 5 yrs or 60,000 miles.
If you purchased your car used from a Toyota dealer the drive-train warranty is usually extended to 100,000 miles.
As for the towing charges they should be covered under Toyota's new car warranty policy.

If they ad-viced you to get it sorted out and you didn't its sort of your own fault and if I'm being honest very stupid as well although I would still kick off a bit and hope they pay for the engine to be sorted out.
If it was your own fault for not listening to their advice I wouldn't be to bothered about the cost of the tow I would just be great-full if they sorted the engine out
I would hate to be in your shoes right now GOOD LUCK if they don't maybe its worth a claim on the insurance

You could consult a lawer, I suspect that you will get your engine fixed under this recall notice because the orginal condition of the engine was not perfect when it left the factory.
Toyota are a major car manufacturer so I think they will make good your car.

well as a service employee i feel that YOU should foot the bill as YOU were "too busy" to have it handled in a timely manner.
but most likely they will cover the repair but not the tow bill.
so i HAVE to ask....
do you have the time to have it fixed now????
never understand you people....

If you ignored the recall notice (and 2 months is ignoring it) don't expect them to help.

CALL THE DEALER AND SPEAK TO THEM, SOUNDS LIKE IT WILL BE A 50/50 CHANCE.
I HAVE SEEN THIS BEFORE AND ITS THE SAME STORY, I DON'T HAVE TIME, BUT 2 MONTHS IS CRAZY TO LET SOMETHING AS IMPORTANT LIKE THIS GO.
