Typically many cape verde type hurricanes tend to make around 2 to 3 landfalls. But for ANY hurricane/storm, what is the most number of landfalls a single storm has made?

Interesting question, and one which I cannot find a definitive answer for. I'm willing to bet that there is at least one or two that made more than 3 landfalls, when you consider all those Caribbean islands the Atlantic storms pass by when they come into the Gulf of Mexico. Then there's Florida to pass by before a final landfall elsewhere.

You've peaked my curiosity. If I come up with a concrete answer I'll edit this post.

2005 was a record year for land falling tropical storms of any kind. We went throught the alphabet and even had to go through some of the Greek alphabet as well. As for major hurricanes, there were three that I know of, Katrina, Wilma, and Rita.
