A girl and I were talking about that just today--she and her man got a smashing good deal on a nearly new one at a charity shop. Getting it home was another matter, but prices can often be good on things year round.
Adding in the midsummer maddness and halloween sales, it seems like the places selling new do often have sales these days. But your question is a good one--they always seem to tie the sales to some sort of bank holiday. I wonder what they will try next, "first, second week, middle of, and last of month sales" prolly.

The best time to get a good price on furniture is everyday. Many years ago furniture companies figured out that if they had sales only certain times of the year that people would wait for them. That meant very slow sales the rest of the time. Furniture stores offer a sale of some sort almost all the time. Some even offer a running 10-20% discount on minimum dollars spent. Most stores offer buy now and pay nothing or no interest for considerable periods of time using their store charges. Furniture sales these days are as in your face as car sales.
