I keep getting a message that my Memory is low. Last night I couldn't get on the internet because it said I had NO MORE MEMORY. I had to restore the computer back to an earlier date to be able to get back in. How do I get more memory? Can I free memory? If so how do I do that?

1. Disable unnecessary startups in msconfig.
2. Do not open too many applications or windows at the same time
3. Invest in MORE RAM while they are cheap. Virtual memory is practically free if you have a large HDD, but then, virtual memory is SLOW.

What I believe is..you have little RAM, crammed hard drive (specially native windows partition) and too many programs running in background or simultaneously that consume all the memory so windows has to come up with "Low on virtual memory" and windows is increasing page size notifications..

what you need to do: Free up some space on the drive where windows is installed..2. Possible get a new memory stick..(RAM card)...3. Clean up hard drive of junk files..using CCleaner 4. Defrag hard drive and Memory afterwards...

Additionally you can uninstall any programs that you no longer need...and disable some of them from starting up with windows....start -> run -> msconfig -> advanced ..there in the start up list..uncheck winamp or any unnecessary utilities ..

There is no need to use system restore for such things...you can also use performance enhancer like cacheman from http://outertech.com

Well first, there are 2 kinds of memory.

The one people immediately think of is Ram; easy way to think of it is ram gives the computer the ability to multi-task; have many things open at the same time w/o a performance loss.

the one that is likely going on based on your description is you are running out of free hard drive space.

I would start by running a spyware and antivirus program if you can; for there is likely junk on your HD that has built up.

Failing that, try to find things you don't need on the drive. Movies take up the most space, esp if you downloaded ones. If you need to save them, go out and buy an external HD attach it to the PC and copy the data to the ext drive and then delete the originals.

The easiest way is to install a new stick of ram. But if you don't want to do that, i think the easiest way is to install a memory optimization application like rambooster:

I think you have very less memory in your C Drive. You better transfer your files (Other than system and program files) from C drive to some other drive. Don't keep huge files in my documents and desktop.

Use freeRAM and tuneup utilities software to remove any unnecessary files from your system.
