If the wattage of the lamp(s) are within the dimmers rating and the dimmer is suitable for low voltage halogens) If the light is lv???) then you will always get a slight buzz when set low. The only solution is a better quality dimmer switch. All Lutron dimmers are silent due to the electronics used. Some dimmers buzz, and some dimmers make the luminaire buzz!

You should not have halogen lights on a dimmer switch. It could blow the light fitting. Change it to a normal switch and it will be fine. It should have said on the instructions. Hope this helps. have a nice day!

Halogen lights cant be dimmed unless they have dimmable control gear/transformer, if u havent got this the dimmer on the wall will eventually stop working or be damaged -the switch will have to be changed to a standard switch or u will have to change the control gear/transformer inside the light. The first is easier!

The most effective way of reducing lamp buzz is to install a lamp debuzzing coil (LDC) in the lighting circuit. When an LDC is wired in series with the dimmer, it slows down the inrush of current during the rapid switching cycle of the dimmer. As the current inrush is slowed down, the lamp filament vibration and lamp buzz are reduced.

Check that all the screws are tight. You can use a dimmer on halogen bulbs, but not standard fluorescents. Nor most of the CFLs.

Try and tighten the connection from the buld to light socket, the bulb wont be in right. I fixed mines last week, looked like a strobe light in my room.
