Do you believe that we are all predestined to travel certain roads in life?

I believe the choices we make in life are conditioned by our environment and past experience. So on the road of life whether we choose the left or right fork is already decided for us by influences beyond our control. The great thing about free will is we have the ability to think critically about our decisions and change our predictable outcome without influence from another source. How could anyone say our path is predetermined when the path itself does not exist? Our paths are only one step ahead of us, we make it up as we go.

At a certain time when everybody and your self tells you that you can make your own decisions, you shouldn't be predestined by anyone anymore. But then, whatever roads you take in your life, if someone is behind predestining them, it's no one other than you.

I will only say this once. We decide the destiny of our own lives. For example, if I choose to sleep late, and stay in my room the entire day, I will not meet anybody. If I choose to go out and talk to the girl at the library. I will meet the girl at the library, by my own choice of actions. We decide who we meet and what experiences we have. But the rest is random. We don't have control over these things. There is no destiny in random events. If I play the Lottery I might win. But most likely I will not win. But if I choose never to play the Lottery, I will certainly never win. Only the things we can control. You do it or you don't. Those believe in fate are in essence giving up on life and settling for what they have, which is usually very little.
