The man who fought Pinochets extradition. Now that they have escaped back to Britain, are they going to refuse to go back to Portugal to face more questioning. If so they may as well just admit that they are guilty.

I would not trust either of those McCanns as far as I could throw them. No sign of them going back to work any time soon then.

I do not think the McCanns have actively sought out the services of Caplan unless you can tell me otherwise. I think it is more likely a case of Caplan offering services, after all its a globally high profile story and worth mega bucks. Not only is the story itself worth lots of cash but the McCanns themselves have now become the UK's OJ's (as in OJ Simson) even without any evidence etc Regardless why would the McCanns need such a high profile lawyer, the chances of them ever having a fair trial by jury are now virtually non existent unless of course you have a population I dont know about living on the moon ! The Portugese Judicial system is from the little I know ill equiped to deal with the sort of spend needed to leave themselves credible in the eyes of world legal systems. The chances of the McCanns becoming the subjects of extradition is in my opinion slim.
Nothing short of a body and tangible evidence will bring closure to this story. I myself have supported the accidential death through sedation of the children theory since the beginning. However, there will always be doubt as we may never know. If though that little girl was abducted may god forgive me for doubting them.

When they got a public relations person instead of a detective, they showed they were interested in maddie but in their public image, this is a new error, now they got Michael Caplan, well, that and admitting they're guilty is the same thing.
By the way, Mr. Caplan must be expensive, are we talking about the fund?

Could it be because they think he is a good lawyer with experience of dealing with foreign legal systems? Gosh, I wonder why they might think they need one of those?

If they were to decide to resist attempts to return them to Portugal as and when requested by the Portuguese police, the matter would likely end up in a British court where the Portuguese authorities would be obliged to present their evidence against the McCanns so that the court could consider whether they had a case to answer. To take that course of action does not necessarily imply guilt. If I was wrongly accused of a crime by another country and did not have faith that I would receive a fair trial in that country, I would certainly seek to avoid returning there.

Michael Caplans defence of Pinochet was downright disgusting, Pinochet was nothing more than a Nazi murderer so he has plenty of good experience in that line.If they are employing someone like that i assume they have something to hide...

because the case is being put before the prosecutors today, they will be called back to portuagal and will be in front of a judge in the next few days.
They will probably try to stay on British soil, or delay.

"escaped back to britain!?" - I believe they were given their passports back by the Portuguese police! You're being a tad dramatic there.
What would you do if you were in their shoes? I think I would do the same.

I know they are saying they will go back to Portugal, but that remains to be seen. I only hope that the girl is safe.... but I seriously doubt it.
