Certain engineering courses has a course that is related to Computer Organization and Architecture.

Even if you're not such student, there's nothing wrong about going to the library and read books on that topic.

You'll start from the basic of learning about the 4 main componenets, CPU, Memory, Input/Output Device, and Storage. You'll then go into details of each, and later on focus more on basic architecture concept of CPU.

I'm not crazy, that's the best way to learn about your PC. You'll first need to know all 4 catagory of hardware and what they are. Then you can tell which is which hardware sitting in you PC.

And once you go in more detains about stuff such as memory bus, memory controller, FPU units, Parallel processing, Out of Order Processing (OOP), SIMP RISC and stuff like that, the next time you read a review about Intel Core 2 Duo, you'll understand all the mumbo jumbo they are talking about.
