I just read that these two 16 year old goth girls murdered their friend last year just because they felt like it and wanted to know what it was like to kill someone. do you think that being a goth is dangerous and can lead to murder.

No. Just because a few people do bad things doesn't mean that it's true of everyone else in the same group.

First of all, chances are they weren't goth's at all. The media likes to put all the undesireables into the goth category. They were most likely metal heads, which is way differant. Columbine was something done by metalheads, not goths. However, the goths took the blame, because everyone is afraid of something that is differant. Metal heads on the other hand would encourage such behavior, because, it is metal. Killing is metal, drugs are metal, suicide is metal... Basically, anything nihilistic or destructive is metal.
Goths are generally VERY peaceful people, who look for the beauty in things where is it often overlooked, like cemetaries, death, and things like that.
That being said, even if the media DID get is right for once, the goth subculture has nothing to do with these kids being mentally disturbed. Think about how many goths there are. If this is the only goth related killing, then it seems to be doing very well, as opposed to hip-hop culture (which has hundreds of murders daily).
Listen to goth music... Not Maralyn Manson (he is a shock rocker, not a goth. Most goth's don't even like him). Not ICP (metal, not goth). Listen to the words of REAL goth musc. Type O Negative or The Cure for example. Most goth music sings about death, not nessecarilly killing. Focuses on the undead (vampires, zombies...), or other "dark" subjects. Most goths also listen to a lot of classical music.

Not as dangerous as the DARK SIDE of hip-hop. Most stabbing, shootings and muggings are done by hip hop bad boys, everyone knows that.
Yet goth is not as cool and they look ugly. If you speak to goths without prejudice to how they appear they often are very genuine humble nice people.
I guess it's got something to do with there cloths speak there aggression for them, so when they actually talk they don't need to be aggressive because there is no need for it. The person they are talking to can fully see that they have a dark side without having to ruin some ones day by being a prick or *****. Unlike other cultures. Btw I am not a goth, grunge or "alternitive".

let me put it to you this way. i am goth. i have never seen myself or another goth threaten anyone or even call anyone a name. however, i and other goths have been threatend or called names by pretty much every other group out there.
we are no more dangerous than any other group. however, if someone who commits a murder happens to fit a certain label or stereotype, they will blame it on that. i happend with the columbine shootings, the shootings ended up being blamed on the fact that they listend to violent music. violent music doenst cause people to kill people, nor does being goth. people kill people.
