Yes, as the rest said, it's marked as a "favorite" question. I don't do it alot, but I've starred a few that are an interesting subject to me, and I want to either refer to them later (easier to find--marked in your "profile" area) or just see what answers were added later.

If answerers think it is a good question, they can click the star. Have a look at some questions, for which the star is coloured gold, with a number, showing how many people 'starred' it.
Starring serves no other purpose, it earns no points for either the questioner or the starrer.
Edit: gave you a star. Now you have a gold star, showing that someone thought it was a good question.

They way I understand it is. If someone in my group sees a question that they think is good they will star it and it will appear in a section above the master list calling my attention to the question. I've never fooled with it myself.

It tells us that some people likes our questions,and "favourited" it,just like in Internet "Favourites"
