I believe it has to be Sir Charles. He is only one of four players to compile at least 20,000 points, 10,000 rebounds and 4,000 assists (the others notably Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Wilt Chamberlain and Karl Malone).

Charles Barkley led the Phoenix Suns to the NBA Finals and won MVP in 1993. He was listed at 6-6, but was probably closer to 6-4, he played power forward often dominating players half a foot taller than he is.

"He's a dominant rebounder, a dominant defensive player, a three-point shooter, a dribbler, a playmaker" Bill Walton observed. And he was right.

I think Malone would never equal the player Barkely was. He was very fast and very explosive at both ends of the floor. And as Bill Walton remarked he could just hit it anywhere. Clutch plays? he lived the life. Barkley was the ultimate player next to Michael Jordan during those days. Malone's Finals legacy was flawed by the ultimate boo boo he made in the Finals: Giving the ball up to Michael Jordan and in turn His Airness hitting the winning shot. Barkley's finals exploits were in notch a brighter spot than Malone's simply because he was relentless player a picture that will forever remain in the Finals anals. He averaged 26.6 points and 13.6 rebounds per game during that postseason run. And he really did made everybody better in his team.

And that is the mark of a great player.

Well i always liked Charles Barkley but the stats speak for themselves. Karl Malone had a longer prime & kept himself in better shape. Perhaps if Barkley had done the same he might be in the Top 10 in Points, Rebounds, Field Goals made, Minutes Played, & Games Played like Karl Malone is. Because the Total per Game Stats are about the same, with a slight edge to Malone. Also for those that are saying that John Stockton was the Leader of the Utah Jazz & without him Malone wouldn't have put up the #'s he did. I'd say you've got it backwards. Karl Malone was the vocal leader on those teams. Stockton led more by example. He was not a vocal inspirational leader like Malone was. And Malone's big body & ability to knock down the outside shot & take it to the basket made Stockton's #'s better. Who do you think was setting those rock hard picks that knocked the player on his a**. How about the guy that was lifting over 300 lbs everyday. Barkley was cool, but that guy could not lift his own body weight.

Charles Barkley is faster, more athletic, has a very good dribbling skills and a good passer. He is also the better rebounder. Both have outside shots but Barkley has the longer range. More exciting of the two to watch.

Karl Malone is always consistent. Better defender. Unlike Barkley, he is not injury prone. He is more conditioned athlete than Barkley. Probably stronger than Barkley in their final playing years.

This is a tough one but i would say the better player is Charles Barkley bec he plays bigger than his size and can play smaller than his size. That is the advantage i give to him over Karl Malone.

Karl Malone had one big advantage over Barkley: he had John Stockton his entire career handing him the ball at the right place on a silver platter. Barkley had to get his almost entirely by himself. As far as who was better, I would have to go with Sir Charles. He made plays that still amaze me after all of these years. I just wish he wasn't such a jerk and kept his mouth shut, and we could have enjoyed his unbelieveable play alot more.

The Mailman delivers! Karl has accomplished slightly more than Barkley that's why I say Karl Malone.

I pick Malone. Karl Malone was more consistent over his career. I liked the play of both, unfortunate neither got a championship. They got gold medals and millions, yet still feel they should of got a title.

I say Malone. Better attitude, better shooter, and better team player. One of the Best F passers in his time. Great free trow shooter too. Faster and stronger. If he used his strong body more in the post and down low, the Jazz should have one a Championship, but he was making a new name for PF and shooting and passing like a guard.

If your talking talent, skill, and heart it's Barkley unfortunately he never got in tip top shape. The Round Mound of Rebound.
