I would cut it in half; one half for the person, one half for the dog, because hunger is hunger no matter if you are a human or an animal. There's a misconception that all homeless people either choose to be homeless, or prefer the homeless life to shy away from responsibilities. We can normally tell who's who, but we don't have a crystal ball to make that quick determination. So even though some people indeed are lazy, refuse to get a job and choose to sleep wherever night falls, some responsible people do end up being homeless. My job entailed driving about 500 miles a day, going to different places, not a specific office. My engine blew up and I didn't have money to fix it or buy a new car. Some of us don't have $3 to $4,000.00 in our checking/savings account. I lost my job, couldn't find a new job fast enough, and although I had enough money to pay rent, utilities and miscellaneous for the following month, that was not good enough. If it wasn't for one of my friends I would have ended up on the streets, is just that quick and simple. There are more and more senior citizens out on the streets, their income is not enough to pay for their own necessities. There are also a lot of people with psychiatric problems, who is going to hire them?, so they also end up on the streets. There are homemakers who are moms, their husbands leave them and they find themselves with no income, and even if they find a job at a fast food place that is just not enough to take care of a family. There are responsible dads who lose their job, or are injured or get seriously sick, and the end result is no income for his family, the medical bills are outrageous. Not everyone has a friend or family willing to help and take you in. So don't be so judgemental, it could happen to your family or you.

Feed the homeless person. And take the stray home.

Hmm, well, I would probably choose feeding a homeless person, too. However, for the stray animal, I'd call an animal shelter and let them know about the animal so they can pick him/her up. :)

To be honest, I'd feed the animal. Not because I value animals over humans; far from it. But I have higher expectations of humans. I don't feel compelled to help homeless people stay homeless. I'd gladly help them not be homeless - by offering them work or helping them pay for school.

If on the other hand, someone is suffering from a natural disaster; then I feel there is a a good reason to be charitable, and I'd hope others would be charitable to me in that situation.

I dunno. Feed the stray animal to the homeless guy, and save my dinner until I got home?

I'm kidding. I would feed a person. As a matter of fact, every Thanksgiving, I take the leftovers to a bad part of town, and look for a homeless person to give them to. The feeling that I get from doing this is amazing. They are SUPER appreciative to have a home cooked meal.

Better to feed a man than an animal. This the rule in the preference of saving lives.

The person, but I would also have to save one little piece for the animal, the animal can hunt, and if he gets too hungry might start looking at other things to eat.
The homeless person may be in his/her situation through no fault of their own...house burned down, national disater...etc...thank you

Feed the cat and call the police to get the vagrant out of my yard. Not because I value one more then the other but the homeless person could fall and get some ACLU lawyer to sue me for not protecting his/her right to walk safely across my lawn.

I guess it depends on why the human is homeless. Many are criminal drug addicts. If that was the case, I'd feed the stray animal.
