The back was VERY dirty, dust clinging thickly to everything. I cleaned out almost all of the accumulated dust and dirt but it didn't seem to help.

Probably a faulty thermostat.

Unfortunately you also clean the vents under the fridge, remove the cover and get the vaccuum in there and clean that out also. If that does not work either start looking for a new fridge or call the repairman and get a shot of freon (spelling). The freon is the chemical that runs through the fridge and keeps things running cold, like an air conditioner. Anyone using freon has to be certified now so you would have to call an authorised user!

Hope that helps,
pazia

Although it would take some time... the other foods should keep themselves cold... like the blue plastic things or any ice to keep things cold in a fridge or freezer. So long as you don't normally keep food long enough for it to spoil, you shouldn't have a problem if the goods aren't in 70 degree temperatures for more than a few hours. Good luck!

Make sure there is nothing blocking the air flow. Make sure it's clean inside and out. I don't think adding refrigerant is the answer until you know that everything else is TOTALLY CLEAN!!

Sounds as though the fridge is out of gas... (coolant I think)

I have the same problem with mine, it defrosts itself everyday I have to mop up a puddle of water that collects in the bottomof it...

The electrician I spoke to said I had to get a new fridge :(

You did the right thing cleaning it, but you really need a tech to check it out to many things that can be wrong.

Vaccume the coils on the back, then give it a good swift kick. That's what I just did to ours, and now it's too cold!
