Assuming the cable is connected the issue is with not having the correct IP assigned to the card.

I you are using DHCP and the DHCP server or router is not assigning an address you can set a static fixed IP on the card to correct this issue.

Just right click on the card, go to properties, and set an address within the network range but outside of the DHCP pool. You also have to set the correct subnet and gateway and dns.

If your router is at 192.168.1.1 and its "DHCP" settings are set to issue 192.168.1.100-150 you can statically assign an IP of 192.168.1.99 to your machine. In this case the subnet would be 255.255.255.0 (or what ever the router is set into) and the gateway and DSN would be 192.168.1.1 (router address). Once that is set your adapter will now have connectivity.

Sometimes all that is required to fix this is a reset of the router. DHCP does hang sometimes.

Hope that helps but without more information as to how and what you are connecting into, its the best I can do.

The most likely cause of this problem is that you need to know and enter the security key for the network (eg WEP)
