i have the same problem, i think it depends on what state you live in, my so caled sister inlaw that married my younger brother wel one of them i have an older brother and sister but i am under them in age,but after my sister inlaw was married to my brotherr after 20 years still no headstone, so i went out to the cematary and talked to them about it, and the best they can do it for a small one, nothing fancy, but a lime like color, and what we want on it would be about $600 alltogether, which i did not think was to bad at all, would like to do beter as him being my younger brother, but being on social security because of my back and pain al ocer my bones i cannot work, so this is the best i can do, and i look at it this way, i can put what i want on it and it sure will not have her name on it, if she had loved him , she would have made sure he had one , he sure would have had one on hers in no time, but check with the cematary, they will tell you and give you differnat prices on what kind you want and how fancy , i just think he deserves something, if his wife will not put one on i will and i hae some family member who wants to help on it also, they said if i could put $300 down i coild make payment on the rest, maybe $20 a month and that wuld be the biggest help is the $300 down and they would go ahead and have it layed and done, just for a single one,,,she gave her spot up but does not see anone or has since he passed away at 40 years old in june of 2000 ,hope this answer helps everyone deserves a headstone at least, hope you can get it done i am planning o by next june have it done on his 7th anniversary, really is missed by his brothers , mom and sister, and myself, he was a great brother and she has had plenty of time to have this done, not planning on it i really do not think, this is what they said at the cemtary also,it is so hard to go ut there and see dads and his and no headstone, this would make mom a little better to, it almost kiled her when he died of a massave heart attack, it done something to all of us just when dad [passed away in 1995 from cancer, but what a blow at 40 years old to fall over from a heart attack, our little brother, but is one over from dad, so they are close together, i do put a new solar light out there every year, i just leave the other out there all tear long i have seen them both shinning in the summer and winter from the bypass, how sad , but when i see tham lights from the bypass, i still think it needs a stone, , and it would help our mom, she never calls my so called sister inlaw, ,,mike wright of she sees this i hope she does, maybe it will wake her up, it has been long enough, ( tanya, )

Hi,
Im in the UK and my Mothers nan died about 8 years ago, she also has no headstone and I was looking to buy one for her too.
They can cost from £400 (stone) to £1000+ (marble) They are quite pricey here in the UK but I assume they would be worth the same in the US. (Im talking about US & UK because you didnt say where you were from)

hundreds unfortunately, and then hundreds again to get them engraved.
you may be able to get a local business to help, such as where your nan used to work, shop, socialise?
you may be allowed to erect a wooden memorial, and have a plaque engraved, to keep the costs down, but the church may argue that it isn't in keeping with the rest of the grounds.
all the best.
