Most babies don't need any prompting or help crawling or walking.
Unless a child is way beind the norm there is no reason to teach them.
My two boys started to walk a 9 1/2 month, running by 10 months. My daughter on the other hand was 14 months old and still not walking. so with her I felt she needed some prompting.
She was hanging on to something and I moved her feet for her and explained that she was learning to walk. . Eventually if she was hanging on to a chair and I wanted her to walk a short distance to me...I reached my arms out and told her to walk to mommy. In no time at all she was walking.

Try a toy that rolls, so your baby has to crawl after it. Make sure that your baby gets plenty of time to play on the floor and if you know some one with a baby that already crawls get them together. My son loves spending time with other babies and is fascinated with watching the ones that can already crawl.

Your question suggests that this is your first kid. If this were your second kid, you would actually be hoping that he/she takes his time learning to crawl or walk.
Each kid learns on his/her own time. It also depends on his/her personality. If your daughter is the type that deals with peer pressure, you might want to put her in an environment with other kids her age that are crawling and/or walking. She'll want to do exactly what the other kids are doing.
The fisher price stride to ride walker is also very good with transitioning from cruising to walking stage.

I was told to start lying my baby on her stomach at least 15 minutes every day.Starting the day I brought her home from the hospital (By a nurse and child care educator) It helps to strengthen the neck muscles and encourages crawling.

Just give her time to be on her belly with toys she can play with and she will figure it out sometime. Don't leave her on her belly if she's getting frustrated though, you can't pressure her into crawling by intense practice and it will just frustrate you both. My kid did not really care about crawling, he was happy rolling for a long time and if you tried to coax him to crawl he would just roll.

We helped our daughter to crawl by putting something that she really wanted just out of her reach. She started crawling by "army cadet", i.e. pulling herself along on her stomach. When she got stronger she started going on hands and knees. We helped her to walk by standing her upright and holding onto both hands, then just one hand. She now toddles quite a bit and absolutely loves her freedom! She is 11 months old, but they are all different with their development.

They do it in their own time. I tried to do everything for my son and he didnt crawl till 11 months. Just stimulate her senses, play games, encourage her to reach for things and roll around a lot. You cannot make them do it before they are developmentally ready.
