I have mine private because I am very truthful in my answers and I wouldn't want someone to take advantage of that. The way I see it, it's not a popularity contest when you're on Y!A. I initially came here because I had a question about something and I am grateful to have found the answer. Also, if I can help just one person with whatever knowledge I have, I'm happy. Once a public servant, always a public servant.

If I see that someone's Q&A's are private, I respect their privacy.

Best wishes to you!

If they've been on Y!A for a while I guess that they've had enough of the Troll Wars, too. If there's a means of contact available I may *ask* if it's cool with them to add. That is the polite thing to do, and no hard feelings if they decline.

If it's a new account and they're acting like complete n00bs, but have everything locked down, I may block them proactively. There's nothing wrong with defending oneself.

I usually think that person must have had a bad experience with answers to put their Q & A private. I had a person read the responses I had written to every question and then email me what they thought of my response (nearly 50 emails). That freaked me out a bit.

I only have a few people added as my contacts, mainly people that I share the same beliefs and opinions with.

I am one of those people whose Q&A's are private. I chose to do this due to the troll population in the forum. Simply adding someone does not allow you to see his or her Q&A's, the person must add you as well. I am not in the least concerned with what someone's "impression" is. I am concerned with maintaining my account and keeping my business within a select group of poeple that have demonstrated that they deserve my trust.

Am one of those.
Don't like trolls, who email making assumptions about me.
Don't want teens, especially 13 yr. old or people, at a specific point level; for example, below 500 points.
Personally, am interested in contacts whose interests, ages, hobbies, education, knowledge, etc. are similar to mine.
Being private eliminates individuals trying to set up dates, which is illegal with community guidelines anyways.

I add them to my contacts because I like them, not because I want to know what they asked or answered...

When I see someones questions and answers private, it made me think either they are very cautious of the trolls, like myself, or they are doing something to cheat in secret... ^_^

I dont have an impression, and i dont add them to my contacts just to find out their questions and answers.

Um well i use to think it was silly but NOW I've set mine to private. I'm sick of being suspended, this is my third account, so those trolls who were giving me violations for no good reason can't do it so easily now...

I had all my info public, then a few trolls became bothersome, so I made it all private. I have email, if anyone wants to be added, they usually mail me.
